Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel A. Akabe, has undertaken an on-the-spot assessment of the permanent site of the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital (DASH) in Akwanga, to evaluate the progress of ongoing construction, expansion, and upgrade works.

The deputy governor also visited the temporary site, where he was given a comprehensive tour of the facility by the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Dr. Esala E. Abene.

He was accompanied by a high-level delegation, including the Chairman of the DASH Governing Board, Chun Mada, Pastor Samson Gamu Yare; the Commissioner of Health, Dr. Gaza Gwamna; the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ibrahim Adamu, Engr.Akaese Aliyu Ayitigo and other senior government officials.

NEC Monitors Nasarawa's Multi-Billion Naira DASH Akwanga as CMD Vows World-Class Standards

National Economic Council (NEC) Implementation Monitoring Committee for the North Central Zone has conducted an on-site assessment of Nasarawa State’s flagship specialist hospital project, DASH Akwanga, to ensure alignment with NEC resolutions.

Led by the Director General and Chief Executive officer Benue State Budget and Economic Planning Commission, Professor Andehoy Jerume, the team inspected the permanent site, where construction, upgrades, and expansion are actively underway.

At the temporary site, Chief Medical Director Dr. Esala E. Abene briefed the committee, reaffirming Governor Abdullahi A. Sule’s firm commitment to commissioning the hospital before his tenure ends in May 2027. He confirmed that the state government has consistently released adequate funding to accelerate work, with additional allocations promised as the project advances.

Dr. Abene also unveiled plans to equip the hospital with state-of-the-art medical technology befitting a world-class institution. He highlighted that another phase of the project is the Trauma Centre that will be the first of its kind in the North Central zone and potentially in Nigeria.

Positioning the facility as part of the Governor’s broader vision for a comprehensive trauma institute that if completed would offer clinical care, training, research, and specialised services, the CMD noted that Akwanga’s strategic location as a gateway to several states makes it an ideal hub for patients from Nasarawa and neighbouring regions.

The committee also toured the Akwanga Underpass, a major infrastructure milestone, and commended the quality and scale of the project.
