Almost two weeks into the first academic session break, FUTES-IYIN looks a little different.
The lecture halls are quiet. The laboratories are still. The corridors are empty. The relaxation sheds that would normally be filled with conversations, laughter and the everyday movement of students now sit quietly.
It is a strange kind of quiet.
Nothing is wrong. Our students are simply away.
And yet, walking through the University at this time reminds us of how much of its life comes from the people who occupy these spaces.
A lecture hall is more than table and chairs, walls, and a board when students are inside it. It becomes a place where questions are asked, ideas are challenged, and knowledge is shared.
A laboratory is more than equipment. It becomes meaningful when curious students gather around it, trying to understand how things work and what more can be done.
Even the corridors tell a different story when they are filled with students moving from one class to another, greeting one another, discussing assignments or simply catching up with friends.
The same goes for our relaxation spaces. They may look ordinary when empty, but they become part of the university experience when students gather there, talk, laugh and create memories.
Perhaps that is what these pictures really capture. Not just empty spaces, but the absence of the people who give those spaces life.
FUTES-IYIN is still here. The buildings are here. The classrooms are here. The laboratories are here.
But something important is missing.

And as the break continues, one thing that becomes increasingly clear is that a university is not truly alive because of its structures; it is alive because of its students.
Soon, the quiet will give way to familiar footsteps, voices, questions, laughter and the everyday bustle that makes this place feel like a university.
