AN URGENT APPEAL TO THE NANS PRESIDENT, COMRADE BABATUNDE — PLEASE INTERVENE IN THE AAUA ASUU STRIKE
Dear Comrade Babatunde,
NANS President,
We, the concerned students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), are appealing to you at this critical moment to urgently intervene in the ongoing crisis between the AAUA ASUU chapter and the Ondo State Government.
Our academic calendar has already suffered serious setbacks due to the previous industrial action. We were hoping and looking forward to commencing our Second Semester examinations, especially after the Ondo State Government approved the release of ₦1.1 billion as a special intervention fund towards addressing the salary arrears and resolving the crisis. (Leadership)
However, waking up to the news of another indefinite strike has once again thrown thousands of students into uncertainty, anxiety and frustration.
Sir, we understand and respect the legitimate concerns of our lecturers. We also believe that every worker deserves to be paid and treated fairly. However, students should not continue to bear the consequences of a prolonged dispute between the government and university staff.
Our examinations are hanging in the balance. Our academic calendar is at risk. Our graduation plans, personal finances and future academic opportunities are also being affected.
This is why we are respectfully calling on you, as the NANS President and the voice of Nigerian students, to urgently intervene and engage all relevant stakeholders — the Ondo State Government, AAUA Management and ASUU-AAUA — towards an immediate resolution of this crisis.
We humbly appeal that your intervention should be immediate enough to ensure that the strike is called off within the next 24 hours, so that students can return to campus and commence our Second Semester examinations without further delay.
We are tired of strikes.
We are tired of uncertainty.
We want to write our examinations.
We want our academic calendar protected.
We want to graduate on time.
Comrade President, this is a moment for student leadership to stand firmly with the students.
Please hear our cry. Please intervene. Please help us save our academic calendar.
We are counting on your leadership and urgent intervention.
AAUA STUDENTS ARE SAYING: LET US WRITE OUR EXAMINATIONS!
Ondo State Government
