UNIZIK to Host Nollywood Blockbusters Under New Campus Cinema Initiative
Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, has been selected as one of the key institutions in the South-East to host a Campus Cinema initiative that will bring top Nollywood blockbuster movies directly to students.
The project, spearheaded by a Campus Cinema Distribution Company, is designed to enrich campus life by providing students with access to premium cinematic experiences within the university environment.
Leading the engagement was the University facilitator, Prof. Nwamara of the Department of Music, who paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie. In his response, the Vice-Chancellor expressed support for the initiative and directed the team to collaborate with Deans of selected faculties whose lecture halls meet the standards required for film screenings.
Following this directive, approvals were secured at the faculty level, highlighting the university’s commitment to partnerships that promote student engagement and enhance social experiences on campus.
The initiative is being driven by the Office of the Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor on New Media, led by Ekene Ezeumeanya and his team. Beyond entertainment, the campus cinema project is expected to foster a more vibrant campus culture by blending leisure with exposure to high-quality Nollywood productions.
