Zainab’s Realignment with APC: ‘There Is No Cause for Alarm’ — Comrade Sabo
By Mohammed Kaka
The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) chieftaincy of party Comrade Sabo Mohammed in Bauchi State has said there is no cause for alarm following the resignation of the party’s Bauchi Central state Assembly candidate, Zainab, from the party and her reported decision to discontinue her 2027 electoral contest.
The party member said it learnt of the development through social media, describing the resignation as regrettable but stressing that constitutional democracy guarantees citizens the right to freedom of association and political choice.
Reacting to the development, a PRP leader in Bauchi State Comrade Sabo said the party’s commitment to fighting injustice, promoting equity and ensuring fairness remains firm and unstoppable.
He said the party had continued to enjoy growing support and goodwill across Bauchi State, including the defection of politicians and supporters from various political parties since joining the PRP about three months ago under the able leadership of our Leader Sen Shehu Buba Umar and Governotorial candidate for the party 2027.
According to him, the development would not distract the party from its objective of promoting internal democracy, inclusive governance and people-oriented leadership in Bauchi State.
He urged PRP supporters, members and well-wishers to remain focused, resolute and patient in the face of what he described as political temptations, intimidation and other manoeuvres aimed at frustrating the party’s efforts to strengthen internal democracy and participatory decision-making.
The PRP leader maintained that the party was committed to a system of governance in which citizens are adequately consulted and given opportunities to participate in decisions affecting their communities, arguing that such principles were lacking under the former political platform at the state level.
While acknowledging Zainab’s constitutional right to choose her political affiliation, he called on PRP leaders at all levels to intensify grassroots mobilisation and continue sensitising citizens to the party’s political ideals and its vision for good governance.
He also urged party members to conduct their activities peacefully and within the provisions of the law, stressing that the PRP would remain committed to democratic principles as the 2027 general elections approach.
“As a full-time member of the party in the state, I will continue to listen to our people and steer the movement with the fear of Almighty Allah and a strong sense of responsibility,” he said.
The party leadership expressed confidence that its growing grassroots support would strengthen its position ahead of the 2027 elections, while calling on supporters to remain calm and focused on the broader objective of achieving justice, equity, fair play and good governance in Bauchi State.
