The Department of Political Science, Sa’adu Zungur University, successfully held its orientation programme for newly admitted 100 Level students. The Head of Department, Dr. Umar Musa Adam, delivered the opening remarks, warmly welcoming the freshers and emphasizing the importance of discipline, commitment land academic excellence.
Three insightful papers were presented during the programme. The first was delivered by Dr. Ibrahim Suleiman, who spoke on morality and dress code, highlighting the need for students to uphold good character and present themselves appropriately within and outside the university environment. The second paper was presented by Malam Shuaibu Abubakar Abubakar, who thoroughly discussed file opening and registration procedures, guiding students on the necessary steps to ensure proper documentation and smooth academic progression. The third presentation was by Dr. Haruna M. Haruna, who addressed examination misconduct, stressing the consequences of malpractice and the need for integrity during examinations.
The Chairman of the Orientation Committee, Dr. Yusuf Musa Yahaya, gave his remarks, while Dr. Rabiu Barau Bal delivered the Dean’s remarks on behalf of the Faculty. Other notable contributors included Dr. Umar Farouk Musa, Malam Umar Farouk Abubakar and the NAPSS President, all of whom encouraged the students to remain focused and dedicated to their studies.
Overall, the programme was memorable and impactful, marked by outstanding performances and well-delivered presentations by the three speakers. It provided a solid foundation for the new students as they begin their academic journey in the Department of Political Science.
