YOUR SCHOOL HAS NOT RELEASED ITS ADMISSION LIST, BUT JAMB HAS ALREADY GIVEN YOUR FRIEND ADMISSION. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?

Imagine waiting for your school's admission list, only for your friend to call you and say JAMB has given him admission.

Meanwhile, your school has not even announced that admission has started.

Before you conclude that something is wrong, understand this:

A school's admission list and the admission status on JAMB CAPS do not always appear at the same time.

Some candidates may see admission offers on CAPS while others are still waiting for their school to publish its list or update their status.

But here is the part many candidates misunderstand: seeing admission on CAPS does not mean JAMB has independently selected you without the institution's involvement.

Admission processing involves both the institution and JAMB, and updates may happen at different times.

So, if your friend has been admitted and you are still waiting, don't panic just yet.

NOW, LET'S SETTLE THIS ARGUMENT.

Who should candidates trust first when checking admission; their school's portal or JAMB CAPS?

YOU SCORED 320 IN JAMB, BUT SOMEONE WHO SCORED 190 HAS BEEN OFFERED ADMISSION.

Before you start dragging the school, answer one question.

Did both of you apply for the same course?

Because some candidates will score 300, miss the requirements for their chosen course, and then conclude that the admission process is fraudulent.

Meanwhile, someone with a lower score may have met the requirements for a different course and received an offer.

But let's be honest: if two candidates applied for the same course, met all the requirements, and one with a much lower score was admitted while the higher-scoring candidate was ignored, wouldn't you have questions too?

Let's hear it.

Should a candidate with a higher JAMB score always get admission before a candidate with a lower score, or should other admission criteria determine who gets admitted?

YOUR 2021–2025 JAMB ADMISSION OFFER COULD EXPIRE IF YOU IGNORE THIS DEADLINE!

If you still have an outstanding admission offer from 2021 to 2025, JAMB has extended the deadline for affected candidates to accept or reject their offers on CAPS to 30 November 2026.

This means you still have time, but don't wait until the last minute.

Log in to your JAMB CAPS, check your admission status and take the necessary action before the deadline.

IMPORTANT: Have you checked your CAPS recently, or are you just hearing about this extension?

JAMB CANDIDATES, THAT OLD PHONE NUMBER OR EMAIL YOU CAN NO LONGER ACCESS? JAMB HAS AN UPDATE FOR YOU!

Imagine trying to resolve an issue with your JAMB profile, only to discover that you can no longer access the phone number or email address linked to your account. Frustrating, right? 😩

Now, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says it is introducing technology-driven measures to reduce candidates' difficulties with phone numbers and email changes while maintaining the security of its registration system.

JAMB Nodal Officer, Abiola Bello Kamarudeen, disclosed this while answering a question on NTA's Good Morning Nigeria programme.

But the big question is: Will these new measures finally make changing JAMB phone numbers and email addresses less stressful?

JAMB: YOUR SCORE ALONE DOES NOT GUARANTEE ADMISSION — REGISTRAR EXPLAINS

Scoring above the minimum entry mark does not automatically mean you will be offered admission.

The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Segun Aina, has clarified that the minimum entry score is not a cutoff mark but the minimum score required for admission consideration.

Speaking on NTA’s Good Morning Nigeria programme, he explained that candidates’ scores must be considered in relation to the overall performance of other candidates.

What does this mean for candidates?

Meeting the minimum entry score only makes you eligible for consideration. Your actual admission depends on other applicable admission requirements and the institution's selection process.

In other words, meeting the minimum score is not the same as securing admission.

FG MOVES TO HARMONISE 2027 EXAMINATION TIMETABLE — RESULTS TARGETED FOR AUGUST

The Federal Government is working with examination bodies to harmonise the 2027 examination timetable, with the aim of ensuring that results are released by August 2027.

Proposed 2027 examination dates:
JAMB UTME: April 17–25, 2027
JAMB Mock UTME: March 20, 2027
WAEC: May–June 2027
NECO: June–July 2027

Expected date of UTME Results Release: March, 2027

All Results (SSCE and UTME) are expected to be available by August 2027.

These dates are proposed and remain subject to official confirmation by the relevant examination bodies.

If successful, the plan could allow eligible candidates to begin their tertiary admission processes by September 2027.

This could be significant for candidates preparing for the 2027 admission cycle, as timely examination results are essential for a smoother transition into tertiary institutions.

Hold your institutions accountable for admissions. JAMB understands your frustrations and is working towards making things easier.

However, you should understand that JAMB only approves admissions proposed by institutions. Therefore, contact your institution and hold them accountable.
