In every great achievement, there is always a visionary leader whose foresight gives direction and meaning to the effort. The establishment of the University of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Ihugh, stands today as one of the most visionary initiatives of His Excellency, the Governor of Benue State, a leader whose ability to identify potential, nurture capacity, and build lasting foundations for development continues to reshape the state’s destiny.

The Governor’s decision to establish the university was not a routine political act; it was a strategic and deeply thoughtful investment in human capital and future prosperity of Benue Staye. He recognized that for Benue to grow, it must cultivate minds capable of driving agricultural modernization, scientific innovation, and technological advancement. He saw in Ihugh not just a location, but an opportunity to build a world-class institution that connects the classroom to the farm, the laboratory to the factory, and learning to real economic growth.

What makes His Excellency’s leadership truly exceptional is his eye for competence, his rare ability to identify individuals whose values and intellect align with his vision. In this regard, his appointment of Professor Qrristurbeg Amua as the pioneer Vice-Chancellor to lead the foundational phase of the university was both a masterstroke and a reflection of trust in proven capacity.

Professor Amua represents the kind of leadership that the Governor envisions for the new Benue, leadership that is intelligent, disciplined, creative, and deeply a solution provider. His Excellency’s understanding that great institutions are built not just with structures, but with the right people, has once again proven correct. Under Prof. Amua’s stewardship, the University of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Ihugh, will set a new academic model, one that emphasizes innovation, practical research, and community-centered development.
