We are delighted to share with you our recently published article on the complementary effects of maggot meal in an SBM-based diet devoid of fishmeal for African catfish hybrids. Fishmeal (FM) is traditionally used as the main protein source in aquafeed due to its high nutritional value. However, as global aquaculture consumptive demand is projected to double by 2050, the production of equivalent quantities of aquafeeds, as well as the replacement of FM in aquafeeds, is critical for the continued growth and sustainability of the aquaculture industry. Our study clearly shows that high levels of maggot meal combined with soybean meal improved the growth and haemato-immunological indices of African catfish hybrids.
