This is not just a building project but a signature project of the growing Global Unijos Alumni family.

The Alumni Centre is a place where alumni meet, interact, network, hold events, collaborate, and engage with their alma mater,

It is a hub and a multipurpose centre for alumni activities and engagements. A welcoming place for meetings, networking, mentoring, reunions, events, and other alumni-focused programmes.

Whether you are a graduate of the University of Jos, a current student, a friend of the University, or simply someone who calls Jos a home, you are invited.

Service Above Self: The University of Jos Alumni Centre Project is our collective Legacy

Let me tell you short quick story.

Story, story!

There was once an old man who walked every morning along a dusty path leading to his village.

In his hand was a small bag of seeds.

As he walked, he would stop, dig a little hole with his walking stick, drop in a seed, cover it with soil, and continue his journey.

The villagers watched him with curiosity.

One day, a young man asked:

“Grandfather, why do you keep planting these trees? They will take decades to grow. You are too old to enjoy their shade.”

The old man smiled.

“My son,” he replied, “I have spent most of my life sitting under trees I did not plant. Someone I never knew thought about my comfort long before I was born. Today, I simply repay a debt I owe to the future.”

Years passed.

The old man died. But the trees lived. Children played beneath them. Travellers rested under their shade. Birds built nests in their branches.And and the farmers found shelter from the scorching sun.

Generations benefited from a simple act of service performed by a man who never waited to enjoy the reward.

His greatest achievement was not the tree.

His greatest achievement was the legacy.

Great Josities, this is the essence of the alumni association t is about planting seeds. Seeds of hope, seeds of opportunity.seeds of compassion, seeds of change.

And sometimes, we may never be there to see the tree.

We may never sit under its shade and we may never know the names of the people whose lives it transforms. But we plant anyway.

That is the power of “Service Above Self.” It challenges us to look beyond the immediate reward and ask a much deeper question:

What difference will the world notice because we lived?

Great Josties,

Chief Peter Owoeye has shown us what it means to truly believe in a cause.
After his remarkable donation of 6,000 blocks valued at ₦6.3 million, Chief Peter Owoeye has once again stepped forward, this time with seven trips of 10-tyre sand worth ₦950,000 towards the construction of the University of Jos Alumni Secretariat and Centre.

This is not just generosity but commitment. This is consistency and this is love for the University of Jos made visible.

His continued support is a powerful encouragement to all of us working to bring this vision to life. Every contribution is taking us closer to the day when the University of Jos Alumni family will have a befitting Secretariat and centre of its own.
