PLASU Senate Sanctions 76 Students For Examination Malpractice.

The Senate of Plateau State University (PLASU), Bokkos, has approved disciplinary measures against 76 students found guilty of examination malpractice.

The offences ranged from smuggling unauthorised materials into examination halls to impersonation, all in violation of the university’s regulations as outlined in the Students’ Handbook.

The sanctions, ratified during the Senate’s 102nd regular meeting, include rustication for one academic session, compulsory carryover of affected courses, and outright expulsions in severe cases. At the same meeting, the Senate also ratified final-year undergraduate and postgraduate results for the 2024/2025 academic session.

In a press statement issued on Tuesday in Jos by the Public Relations Officer of the Institution, Masara Kim, said the meeting, chaired by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Moses Pyefa Galadima, on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shadrach Gaya Best, received reports from the Examination Misconduct Committee.

The committee investigated 76 students apprehended during the second semester examination for the 2024/2025 academic session. Offences included possession of mobile phones, written notes, and inscriptions on body parts related to examination questions.

After deliberations, the Senate approved punishments consistent with the provisions of the Students’ Handbook.

The Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed the university’s zero tolerance for examination malpractice.

He emphasized PLASU’s commitment to integrity, discipline, and sound moral values while commending the examination misconduct committee for its diligence and adherence to due process.

In addition to disciplinary matters, the Senate approved some results for 400 level students, as well as Masters’ and PGD students’ results. Reports from faculties confirmed that lectures for the new semester resumed two weeks earlier across departments.

PERMANENT SECRETARY DEMANDS STRICT PROCUREMENT COMPLIANCE, WARNS AGAINST BREACH OF DUE PROCESS IN EDUCATION MINISTRY

The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education Nigeria, Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan, has called on Directors and members of the Ministerial Tenders Board (MTB) to uphold the highest standards of diligence, transparency, and accountability in procurement processes within the Ministry.

Mr. Enitan made the call while presiding over a meeting of the Ministerial Tenders Board in Abuja, where he emphasized the need for strict adherence to the provisions of the Public Procurement Act 2007 and other established procurement guidelines.

He noted that the Board plays a critical statutory role in ensuring that procurement activities are conducted transparently and in accordance with due process. The Permanent Secretary therefore urged members to demonstrate professionalism, objectivity, and attention to detail when reviewing submissions and memoranda presented before the Board.

Mr. Enitan also disclosed that concerns raised during a recent engagement with the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement reaffirmed the need for strict compliance with procurement regulations across government institutions.

He further directed the Director of Procurement to ensure that all proceedings of the Board are properly documented and endorsed to maintain accurate official records.

The Federal Ministry of Education reiterated its commitment to strengthening procurement oversight and promoting transparency and accountability in the management of public resources.

Kogi State Polytechnic has taken decisive action to uphold discipline and integrity within the institution.
The Polytechnic dismissed a senior administrative officer, Mr. Mukhtar Muhammed, after he was found guilty of sexual molestation, and demoted Deputy Registrar Mr. Audu Mathew for negligence of duty. Another staff member, Mrs. Funmilayo Afolabi, was also dismissed for absconding from duty for nine months without approval.
These decisions were reached during the 72nd Regular Governing Council meeting held on December 19, 2025, reaffirming the institution’s zero-tolerance stance on misconduct.
In the same meeting, the Council approved the promotion of 572 staff members, including 11 Principal Lecturers elevated to Chief Lecturer, highlighting a balance between discipline and reward for diligence.
The Polytechnic leadership says the move strengthens transparency, accountability, and academic integrity.
