2021 Scholarship: Zulum releases N476m for 15, 374 Borno students

… NUBOSS praises Zulum

Borno Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum has approved and released the sum of N476, 640 million for payment of 2020/2021 scholarship to 15,374 citizens of Borno State in tertiary institutions across the state.

Commissioner for Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Engr. Babagana Mallumbe Mustapha announced the release on Monday in Maiduguri, after a meeting with National Union of Borno State Students (NUBOSS) at the Borno State Scholarship Board.

The commissioner disclosed that e-payments will applied for the disbursements to all beneficiaries.

The Executive Secretary scholarship Board Mallam Bala Isa called on benefiting students to face their studies seriously.

On behalf of all benefiting students, President of the National Union of Borno State Students (NUBOSS), Comrade Sugun Abba commended Governor Zulum for his consistent passion for the welfare of students and commitment towards improving the standard of education in all parts of Borno.

I am grateful to Allah for making it possible for me. I am also grateful to His Excellency the Executive Governor of Borno State Prof. Babagana Umara Zukum for finding Worthy to work with him. This is someone i have never made personally and he didn't even know me. This is to tell you the kind of person His Excellency is when it comes to appointment. Thank you all for your prayers and for associating with me at this point in time. I will like to also express my gratitude and appreciation to all my students. You tell the public the kind of person I am. Through your good judgement of me the public come to know me better. My advice for all of you, is for you to be honest and patient in life and in whatever you do, Allah knows everything about you. For those of you that will follow our path as teachers remember your students are your children if you cheat them in whatever way you just cheat yourself. Thank you once again and may Allah bless all of you. Ameen.

Zulum appoints Executive Secretary for Borno Scholarship Board

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has approved the appointment of Bala Isa as Executive Secretary of the Borno State Scholarship Board.

The appointment was announced on Monday morning by Governor Zulum’s Special Adviser on Public Relations and Strategy, Malam Isa Gusau in a statement.

The 50-year old Bala Isa hails from Bayo local government area, and until his appointment, was a lecturer at Borno State University. He was also a principal lecturer at Kashim Ibrahim College of Education, Maiduguri, after working for nearly ten years as a teacher, and later examination officer at A.K Benisheikh Staff Model School at the same Kashim Ibrahim College of Education, the statement noted.

Bala Isa, currently rounding up his PhD at the University of Maiduguri, holds Msc in Inorganic Chemistry, and Bsc in Chemistry, both from University of Maiduguri. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from Kashim Ibrahim College of Education, after secondary education at Government Senior Science Secondary School, Biu, and Government Secondary School, Kwaya Kusar.

Gusau also said that the new E.S has 10 science-based academic publications, as well as seminar papers to his credit, and he is a member of Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria, and Chemical Society of Nigeria.

Governor Zulum, the statement added, congratulates the new E.S and looks forward to an overriding commitment with absolute integrity and fairness in managing the scholarship board.
