People love to talk about self-love, self-acceptance and high aelf esteem until you actually start practicing it, until you begin setting boundaries around the people and situations that make you feel small.
Suddenly, you’re labeled proud or arrogant.
They’ll comfort someone who feels unattractive with, “Don’t say that, you’re beautiful,” but the moment someone feels confident in themselves, it becomes, “What’s she feeling like?”
It just shows how biased people’s reactions can be.
Some people are only comfortable with your happiness when they believe they are the reason for it.
The moment your confidence comes from within, from your own healing, your own choices, your own boundaries, it unsettles them.
But self-worth isn’t supposed to be borrowed from others.
It’s something you’re allowed to own, fully and unapologetically.
