I am pleased to announce that the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho (FUNATO) has been selected as one of 16 universities nationwide to benefit from the Federal Government’s Rural Electrification Programme through the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).
On Friday, 6 February 2026, the University management received REA delegation led by Mr. David Ogunsawe for preliminary engagements, including an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment, ahead of project commencement.
The project will deliver over one megawatt of solar-powered electricity to support teaching, research, and residential activities. FUNATO has expressed full readiness by allocating land within its permanent site, with strong backing from the host community and the Onjo-in-Council.
This initiative marks a major step toward sustainable energy and improved learning infrastructure at FUNATO.
