*Thrilling Encounter as AVCTA and Okene Battle to a 3-3 Draw in CGTS 2025 Language School Football Tournament*
Crowther Graduate Theological Seminary kicked off her 2025 Language School Football Match Competition today with thrilling energy, as Archbishop Vining College of Theology, Akure (AVCTA), locked horns with Bishop Crowther College of Theology, Okene, in a dramatic second match of the tournament.
The highly anticipated encounter ended in a pulsating 3-3 draw, showcasing talent, teamwork, and tenacity from both sides.
The match began on an intense note as Wisdom Agwaraonyekwe of Okene stunned the AVCTA side with an early goal in the first half. Despite several attempts by the Vining boys to equalize, Okene’s solid defense held strong, maintaining their 1-0 lead into halftime.
The second half saw a dramatic turnaround. Akintewe Adewale John reignited the hopes of AVCTA with a beautiful equalizer shortly after kickoff with the assist by Dada Sunday Alaba. The momentum shifted further when Olofilade Gbenga Samuel fired in a second goal, pushing AVCTA into the lead and putting the Okene team under pressure.
However, Bishop Crowther College of Theology was not done yet. Nwachukwu Emmanuel leveled the score for Okene with a clinical finish, and not long after, Aisosa Ibisugbe delivered a stunning strike to make it 3-2 in their favour.
As the clock ticked down, AVCTA’s determination paid off when Adeleke Emmanuel found the net, bringing the scoreline to 3-3 and sealing an electrifying draw.
Both teams displayed commendable sportsmanship and skill, setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting tournament at the Crowther Graduate Theological Seminary’s Language School event.
