Strengthening Ties: Directorate of Advancement and Alumni Relations, Alumni Association, and University Management Embark on Strategic Royal Visits to Distinguished Alumni Rulers in Osun State

ONDO, NIGERIA — In a major strategic initiative to deepen institutional roots, foster community engagement, and strengthen alumni relations, a high-powered delegation from the Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo (AFUED) embarked on courtesy visits to two prominent, first-class royal fathers in Osun State on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

The royal fathers—His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulrasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, and His Royal Majesty, Oba Nurudeen Lawal, the Timi of Ede—are both highly distinguished alumni of our great institution. The historic visit was initiated and facilitated by Dr. Charles Omotayo, the Director of Advancement and Alumni Relations (DAAR). Reflecting the high importance of the initiative, the delegation featured top-tier University Management, including:
Prof. B.I. Popoola — Vice-Chancellor
Prof. Ireti Alao — Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC)
Dr. Arizo Akpokurerie — University Librarian
Other senior officials of the University.

Demonstrating the strong synergy between the institution and its graduate network, the Global President of the AFUED Alumni Association, Dr. Festus Olowogboyega, provided full logistical and leadership support, joining the delegation in Osogbo to lead the alumni front. The delegation’s first stop was the palace of the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Abdulrasheed Ayotunde Olabomi.

Oba Olabomi shares a deep, long-standing history with AFUED, having previously served as a valued member of the University Governing Council. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).

The Aragbiji received the delegation with immense joy, offering a vibrant and premium royal reception. He praised the university's transition to a full-fledged Federal University of Education and expressed his unwavering commitment to supporting his alma mater's advancement goals.

Moving forward to the ancient town of Ede, the delegation was warmly received by the Timi of Ede, Oba Nurudeen Lawal. Visibly delighted and pleasantly surprised by the high caliber of the AFUED delegation, the Timi rolled out the red carpet for his academic home. In a unique gesture of royal hospitality, Oba Lawal personally led the Vice-Chancellor, the Alumni President, and the rest of the team on an exclusive tour of his historic palace grounds.

While expressing his deep pride in being an alumnus of Adeyemi, the Timi promised to reciprocate the honor by visiting the university campus in Ondo in the near future to further concrete partnerships.

Speaking on the successful tour, the Director of DAAR, Dr. Charles Omotayo, noted that building strong channels with highly placed alumni is essential for AFUED's next chapter of growth. The Global Alumni President, Dr. Festus Olowogboyega, echoed this sentiment, calling on all alumni worldwide to remain connected and invested in the university's rising profile.

AFUED Alumni Directorate Strengthens Campus Safety with High-Impact Security Training and Equipment Support.

In a decisive move to elevate campus safety standards, the Directorate of Advancement and Alumni Relations (DAAR) of Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED) has successfully delivered a comprehensive security training and empowerment programme for its campus security personnel.

The initiative, held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, brought together top-tier security professionals and stakeholders in a strategic effort to modernize the university’s security architecture. The training focused on contemporary security dynamics, intelligence-led surveillance, risk mitigation, and rapid response strategies tailored to evolving threats within academic environments.

The programme was conceptualized and spearheaded by the Director of DAAR, Dr. Charles Omotayo, whose vision for a safer and more proactive campus environment drove the impactful intervention. Beyond capacity building, the Directorate also equipped security personnel with essential operational kits, reinforcing their ability to respond effectively to security challenges.

A major highlight of the event was the participation of distinguished alumni and seasoned security experts drawn from the military, police, and private security sectors. Among them were retired Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Francis Ojomo; military strategist, Captain Kinga Kolawole; and renowned security consultant and CEO of Gestod Security Services, Prince Mustapha Adegbite. Their wealth of experience provided invaluable insights and practical knowledge to participants.

The event also attracted key members of the University Management, led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ireti Alao, alongside other notable dignitaries from within and beyond the university community. Their presence underscored the institution’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property on campus.

This initiative marks another milestone in AFUED’s ongoing efforts to foster a secure, conducive learning environment, while strengthening alumni engagement as a strategic driver of institutional development.

With this forward-thinking approach, AFUED continues to set a benchmark in proactive campus security management within Nigeria’s higher education landscape.
