IAUE VC ADVOCATES FOR MORE RESEARCH FOR NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT BEYOND MERE ACADEMIC EXERCISE.
The Ag. Vice Chancellor of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education Rumuolumeni Port Harcourt, Professor Okechukwu Onuchuku has advocated for more collaborations and research to lead Nigeria out of her position as the poverty world headquarters and Africa out of abject poverty as result of misrule and bad governance.
The Vice Chancellor made this remark as he declared open the 3rd International Conference of the Faculty of Humanities in Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rumuolumeni Port Harcourt.
Professor Onuchuku advised that conferees should carry out academic research that can go beyond just to be promoted to academic levels but that can enhance the "town and gown" relationship. He promised to continue to support all conferences to exercise his duty as adminstrative and academic head of the University.
Earlier in the event, the Dean, Faculty of Humanities, Professor Kingdom E. Orji welcomed the conferees to the conference and urged them to discuss and strategize on means of bringing Africa out of socio-economic quagmire.
The day one of the conference featured award presentation, keynote address by Professor Innocent Pikirayi of the Department of History and Archeology, University of Pretuna, South Africa.
Side attractions of the event are Drama presentation by the Department of Theatre and Film Studies and dance by the Music Department.
