HANDOVER AND REDEDICATION ADDRESS
By Cmr. Ozor Primejoe, Chairman, FUTO Alumni Association, Owerri Chapter
Saturday, 12th September 2026
Distinguished Members of the FUTO Alumni Association, Owerri Chapter,
Esteemed Alumni, Fellow Executives, and Friends of our Great Association,
Today marks a significant milestone in the history of the FUTO Alumni Association, Owerri Chapter, and in my journey of service to this great Association.
Following the confidence and trust reposed in me by our esteemed members at the recently concluded election, I am deeply honoured to have been given the opportunity to serve as Chairman for a second tenure.
I accept this renewed mandate with profound humility, gratitude, and an even greater sense of responsibility. I sincerely appreciate every member who supported, encouraged, and voted for me. I equally extend my hand of fellowship to every member, irrespective of how you voted. The election has come and gone, and what remains is our shared commitment to the unity, progress, and advancement of our Association.
APPRECIATION OF THE OUTGOING EXECUTIVE COUNCIL
I wish to specially acknowledge and appreciate the members of the Executive Council who served with me during the first tenure.
Your dedication, cooperation, sacrifices, and invaluable contributions were instrumental to the progress and achievements recorded by the administration.
Together, we strengthened our welfare initiatives, reviewed our Bye-Laws, enhanced member participation, expanded our membership base, improved financial accountability and visibility, and initiated programmes and projects aimed at creating lasting value for our Association and our alma mater.
These achievements were never the accomplishment of the Chairman alone. They were the result of collective leadership, teamwork, commitment, and the support of our members.
To each member of the immediate past Executive Council, I express my sincere appreciation and profound gratitude for your service.
A NEW CHAPTER OF SERVICE
Our first tenure was anchored on the philosophy:
“Consolidating the Gains, Building the Future.”
As we commence this second tenure, our task is clear: to consolidate the gains already made, address areas requiring improvement, and raise the standard of service and impact even higher.
Our administration will continue to prioritise:
* Unity, welfare, and the well-being of our members;
* Greater membership growth, participation, and engagement;
* Transparency, accountability, and responsible leadership;
* Professional networking and opportunities for our Alumni;
* Meaningful projects and partnerships that advance the interests of FUTO;
* Programmes that promote professional development, mentorship, and empowerment; and
* A stronger connection between our Alumni, our Association, and our alma mater.
A second tenure is not a reward for past service; it is a renewed mandate and a greater responsibility to serve. The confidence reposed in this administration therefore comes with higher expectations and a stronger obligation to deliver.
A CALL FOR UNITY AND COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITY
My dear Alumni, I call on every member to see this administration as our collective administration.
Let us move beyond the divisions that may have characterised the election period and embrace the common bond that unites us as graduates and ambassadors of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri.
Our strength lies in our unity. Our progress depends on our collective participation. And our legacy will be determined by what we are able to achieve together.
To the new Executive Council, I urge us to remain united, disciplined, transparent, accountable, and firmly committed to the collective interest of the Association.
To our past leaders and senior Alumni, we respectfully seek your continued counsel, guidance, and wisdom.
To every member of our Association, I welcome your constructive criticism, ideas, suggestions, cooperation, and active participation. We may not always agree on every issue, but we must always remain united by our shared commitment to the growth and success of our Association.
MY RENEWED COMMITMENT
As I commence this second tenure, I renew my commitment to serving with integrity, fairness, transparency, humility, and dedication.
I will remain accessible to our members and committed to advancing their interests while promoting the unity, visibility, credibility, and progress of the FUTO Alumni Association, Owerri Chapter.
Together, we shall consolidate our achievements, confront our challenges, explore new opportunities, and build an Association that reflects the excellence and values associated with our great alma mater.
The first tenure laid the foundation.
The second tenure must deepen the impact.
Together, we shall build an even stronger future.
Once again, I thank you all for your confidence, support, partnership, and continued belief in our collective vision.
May our Association continue to grow from strength to strength, and may our alma mater, the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, continue to excel and prosper.
Long live the FUTO Alumni Association!
Long live the Owerri Chapter!
Long live the Federal University of Technology, Owerri!
Cmr. Ozor Primejoe
Chairman
