Today, You Can

Today, You Can Cycling from North Pole to South Pole (www.todayyoucan.nl)
[email protected] The project Today, You Can! Physically, the challenges are minor.

starts on the 13th of July 2011 in Deadhorse, Alaska, and ends around New Years’ Eve 2012 in the most Southern point of Argentina, Ushuaia. In 500 days, Aart will cycle more than 19,000 miles through endless forests, dry steppes, dark jungles, outstretched deserts and snow-covered mountains. On the bike, he will carry everything he needs to be as independent and as self-suffcient as possible. Cycl

ing in the barest conditions is about living the unexpected life. Aart will be continuously faced with risks and surprises. Mentally, however, he will have to master droughts, freezing cold, steep climbs, crying hunger and at times loneliness. However, the project is not only about cycling through rough landscapes: it is about people. Along the road, he will make others part of his trip by organizing high school, college and university meetings. Starting from his own experience, Aart will inspire students to take their lives in their own hands and to make their dreams real. Students and followers can enter an online video contest and show what their aspirations are about. Over the last ten years, he has covered more than 16,000 miles in Europe, Russia and the Middle East. This year, join him on his ride as he shares with the world, and in particular students, the message of empowerment: today you can achieve whatever you want.
