With master’s degrees from Utrecht University in French linguistics and , Veerman started out lecturing philosophy at alma mater. Afterwards, he joined NMB Bank during its late-1980s transition to ING. Consulting followed throughout the 90s with KPMG and others.
Biographical sources stated a period “full of rheumatism” forced Veerman to make a different choice. During the early 2000s, he “became free and accidently founded Foodlog: an independent, interactive Dutch journal on food, nutrition and food politics.”
According to foodlog.nl, the platform is “about continuing to clarify painfully where others stop thinking and connecting with care where that succeeds.” The discussions on the platform regularly lead to parliamentary questions and reconsiderations in politics and policy.” [translation from Nederlands]
Veerman will speak about innovative ways approaches challenges to the global food system and the solutions needed from young people on the environment, energy, and agriculture.
