The Hall of Fame Series: 2025-2026

Celebrating the milestones of our students and faculty.

05 | Cities 4 Women: Urban Design Studio & Community Co-Design
Location: Ward 8, Birendranagar, Surkhet
Collaborative Initiative: UNOPS, UN-Habitat, and Cities Alliance
Date: 29.10.2025-02.11.2025

We are immensely proud to feature the impactful work of Ms. ASHRIKA BISTA from the 020 Architecture Batch. Her journey within the "Cities 4 Women" framework represents a profound shift from traditional drafting to community-rooted urbanism.
Working closely with the Ward 8 community in Birendranagar, the selected students listened to stories, shared ideas, and co-designed spaces that reflect everyday life and local culture. A key highlight of this intervention is the design of Prabhat Park,a space envisioned for connection and belonging.
Featuring a traditional Chautari, dedicated children’s play zones, moulded play areas, and comfortable seating, the park stands as a testament to architecture that prioritizes gathering and rest.
Under the expert guidance of Dr. Prof. Sanjaya Uprety, Ashrika and her peers learned to see architecture beyond mere form, moving towards a practice defined by climate, context, and care.
CONTRIBUTORS:
• Ms. Ashrika Bista
• Ms.Purnima Mahat from Thapathali Campus & Fellow Student Collaborators
• The Community of Ward 8, Birendranagar

We extend our deepest gratitude to Cities 4 Women, the local government of Surkhet, and the participatinh mentors who pushed the boundaries of architectural pedagogy to include social empathy and resilience.
!!Huge Congratulations to Ashrika for representing our department and college and her dedication to creating spaces for connection and belonging!!

DESIGN STUDIO VII
featuring the top selected project of
2020 batch in their 8th semester on resort design by
Ms.PRIZA NEUPANE
Title: FIVE-FOLD WHISPERS
A Sacred Journey through Balance and Reconnection with Nature
Ms. Neupane's Methodology on this project centered on an immersive resort experience rooted in the harmony of the five natural elements—Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Sky designed to engage and calm the five human senses. Each element is translated into a distinct spatial zone, shaping atmosphere, materiality, light, and sensory interaction. Earth anchors the design with grounding textures and forms; Water introduces fluidity and reflection; Fire activates warmth and energy; Air enhances openness, movement, and breath; while Sky creates a contemplative, expansive realm for mental clarity.

The Hall of Fame Series: 2025-2026

Celebrating the milestones of our students and faculty.

03 | अन्तराल: Between Pauses
Category: All Nepal Architecture Design Competition
Organizer: ASIF (Yathartha-2082), Thapathali Campus
Award: FIRST RUNNER UP

We are incredibly proud to announce that our student, Ms.Ashrika Bista, from 2020 batch in collaboration with Ms.Purnima Mahat from Thapathali Campus, secured the 1st Runner-Up award. Their work stood out for its poetic reimagining of campus life, proving that sometimes, "less building" means "more life."

The project challenges the traditional definition of architecture as a "finished building." Moving beyond rigid walls and fixed programs, it focuses on space as a social medium where meaning is found in the quality of shade, the flow of movement, and the invitation of open thresholds.

Designed as a manifesto for sustainable, low-cost architecture, the proposal utilizes Bamboo Joinery and Rammed Earth to create an adaptable campus sanctuary. By prioritizing staggered platforms and airy volumes over traditional structures, the design fosters a symbiotic relationship between student life and the natural environment. Following its success in the competition, the design has been proposed to the campus administration for potential construction as a functional student hub.

Celebrating the milestones of our students and faculty.

02 | Urban Commons: Reimagining Civic Spaces

Category: All Nepal Design Competition,
Hosted by: 17th National ASA Exhibition
Award: FIRST RUNNER UP
Concept: Civic Dialogue & Organic Interaction
Date:Jan 2026

From the 17th National ASA Exhibition, we celebrate a visionary proposal that reimagines civic space as a medium for dialogue. Moving away from the concept of a fixed monument, the project explores an "Urban Commons" where meaning emerges through movement, pauses, and shared presence.

The design utilizes a hovering path, gradual ramps, and layered open spaces to create a living ground for collective voices. By facilitating moments of gathering and stillness, the proposal allows civic life to unfold slowly and organically, prioritizing the experience of the user over form alone.

This achievement highlights our students' ability to blend theoretical depth with practical urban solutions, reflecting the evolving role of architecture in fostering public discourse.

During the program, participants worked on the construction of furniture for a judo hall, renovation of a local school, and the creation of a waiting space at Khalte. The project provided students with valuable hands-on experience in construction, teamwork, and project coordination.

The program also encouraged cultural exchange and strengthened the relationship between the participating institutions. It was a meaningful initiative that reflected the importance of community service, practical learning, and international collaboration in engineering education.
