Welcome my dear friends and yet to be friends! My ultimate outcome of this page (currently working on a website too), is to create a small community online where we can help one another in planning our dream vacation. The main contents of this page will be contributed by me, and hopefully in the near future, more people will start writing articles, sharing tips and itineraries. Feel free to ask fo
r help and questions and I will try to answer them to the best of my ability. Do not feel shy to share & comment and I hope that there would be active interaction among everyone! I have been travelling free & easy (to the best of my ability) since 2009 when I earned my first decent pay cheque. It was an 8 day trip to Taiwan, covering Taipei and Taichung. After the first semester of school, I went for a 5D4N trip to Bangkok with my newly-found friends. The following summer, I signed myself up for “Work and Travel USA”. This programme allowed me to stay in USA for 3 months. I worked as a candy girl in a candy shop at Jenkinson’s South, located along the east coast of New Jersey. (FYI: If I didn’t travel, I was earning enough money to cover my air tickets + programme fees.) During my stay in the USA, I managed to cover 7 cities including New York, Boston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and my favourite, San Francisco. Forsaking the chance of a summer internship, I spent 2011’s summer at the summer immersion programme by Seoul National University (SNU). In those 48 days, I ventured out of Seoul a couple of times, covering less popular cities and towns like Pohang and Andong. It was the first time I travelled on an “Anyhow whack itinerary” where I did not book any transportation nor hotels/hostels beforehand. With a lonely planet in hand, we simply planned our next day itinerary the night before and only look for accommodation after we reached the city. It was highly adventurous, but it didn’t turn out too bad. With the mentality that of YOLO (You only live once) awaiting the doomsday of 2012, I decided to splurge that bomb for my graduation trip. Convincing myself that “You can no longer take extremely long vacations after you start work (average annual leave company give is 14 days, throw in the weekends, the longest you can be on vacation is 20 days),”I decided upon a month long vacation to Europe. I covered 6 countries, 10 cities, taking 5 flights and countless train rides. Just as I was about to succumb to the reality of a “leave-less” first year, I won myself an all-expenses paid trip to Seoul from a blogging competition. “Asian on Air” is a program sponsored by Korean Air and Korean Tourism Organization. It brought together 20 youths from 10 different countries in Asia for a 5D4N itinerary which focused on the less visited places surrounding Seoul. Not too long after that, my heart got itchy again and I impulsively booked my tickets to Hong Kong for January 2013. It was a super budget trip where I spent less than $400 for flight (Tiger Airways) and accommodation (Hostel). In March, I decided to go for a short getaway to Genting and Kuala Lumpur. Once again, it was fuelled by the $0 air ticket promotion that Jet Star had. Right now, I am currently holding on to a $228 one way ticket to Seoul via Scoot because of a stupid booking mistake I made. Thanks for reading up this (slightly long) description about my travelling experiences and destinations. Do take note that the information in this page may not be 100% accurate at all times as we are living in a fast-paced world and everything is ever changing. I once got lost in a place because my lonely planet did not mention about the new bus terminal which had been built at a totally different location less than 6 months ago.
