We've had an awesome uptake for our webinar this evening and the good news is it's not too late to join!

Experienced teachers, first-year teachers and current trainees will be sharing their insight into the profession in this one-hour Zoom webinar lifting the lid on what it's really like to be a teacher.

Like TTI graduate James, currently in his first-year teaching at Macleans College.

We asked him whether prospective teachers should be scared of a classroom of kids.

His response?

"No way. You have to remember they are just kids and sometimes they are more terrified of you than you are of them. You being there is making a difference and showing up for them. They notice that."

Hear more from James and our other panellists this evening, 6-7pm.

A great buzz on campus yesterday as we hosted not one but two events to advance education in Aotearoa!

✅ Highly experienced coach, educator and school leader Dr Mark Dowley returned to The Teachers' Institute to lead a day of professional development in behaviour management for close to 100 teachers.

✅ And it was a full house at our Information Session for people considering teacher training with us next year. Great questions from attendees on the financial support available, work-life balance as a teacher, the qualifications needed to enter our one-year programmes and more.

The evening ended with a golden nugget from one of our current trainees...

"Everybody in this room has skills and experience that they can offer the next generation. If you're motivated to do that, take this opportunity."

Our partner schools bring our teacher training programme to life!

In fact, many of our trainees join our programme because of an existing relationship with one of our partner schools – as a parent, coach, administrator, neighbour or teacher aide, for example.

Thanks Auckland Grammar School for being featured in our partner school series!

➡️ Did you know... labour from Mt Eden Prison inmates was used to quarry stone for the construction of Auckland Grammar School's 1916 ‘Great Hall’ and surrounding grounds.

Interested in training to teach at Auckland Grammar School or another one of our partner schools? You can check out our full list of Primary and Secondary partner schools here: https://www.teachersinstitute.org.nz/partner-schools

At The Teachers’ Institute we are incredibly proud of our partner school network - they bring our teacher training programme to life!

Thanks Sylvia Park School for being featured in our partner school series!

➡️ Did you know... Sylvia Park School is named after the Sylvia Park Stud, a famous 19th-century horse breeding farm and estate that previously occupied the site. The area and school take their name from this stud, which was established in the 1870s and is notable for breeding famous New Zealand horses like Carbine.
