Be part of the amazing Coast to Coast multi-sport event:
We could use a few volunteers for this year’s Kathmandu Coast to Coast, we need assistance with Compulsory kayak Gear Checks on Friday 10th February, and then competitor checks on Saturday 11th February. I have included Keith Reilly will be managing this. Ideally the volunteers would have some outdoors experience and be comfortable in this environment.

New Opportunity Alert:
I have been working with the Waikato District Council parks and reserves policy team on a range of projects and strategies.
Last year the Council had several local university students for a summer placement, who undertook specific parks based projects.
Are you aware of any Lincoln students that may be seeking a summer placement to work with a parks team, who have a particular desire to work in a project / planning role?
This may suit someone living in the Waikato region, as no accommodation is provided and there are limited public transport options.
Waikato District Council is based in Ngaruawahia.

If anyone is interested, please email Rebecca Law – Senior reserves planner at Waikato District Council, with a covering letter no later than 10 September 2021.

Rebecca.Law[AT]waidc.govt.nz

Please address the following preferred details in your cover letter:
• experience in reserves, recreation regulatory and non-regulatory planning and/or policy
• awareness of public consultation and public engagement methodologies
• research, reporting and analysis skills
• level of interpersonal and relationship management ability

As I have links back to Lincoln (College / University) and came through the diploma/degree in Parks Recreation and Tourism management, I am keen for any Lincoln students/graduates to find future work opportunities.
I would be happy to also field any questions.
Thank you for your consideration of this request.
Kind regards
Eric Hamilton

Hello LURS members,
Who is coming to the next morning networking event? I'll be there and hope to see you all there too! Save the date in your calendar today.

After having to defer our March breakfast, The Canterbury/Northern South Island branch of Recreation Aotearoa has re-scheduled this networking opportunity for July. This will be a great opportunity for you to meet others within the sector and familiarise yourself with what is happening in the region. This breakfast is open to all members (or prospective members) and is an informal get together.

We’d love to see you there.

Details are:
Date: Wednesday the 29th of July
Time: 7:30am –whenever
Venue: Raeward Fresh Cafe - Harewood
Address: 800 Harewood Road, Christchurch
Who: You and like-minded Recreation Professionals, Students and Academics.
RSVP: [email protected] by Midday, Monday 27th of July

Recreation Sport & Leisure Consultancy (RSL) has kindly offered to pay for attendees hot drinks, while you are responsible for the costs of your own breakfast. Both Kevin Collier and Richard Lindsay from RSL will be at the breakfast if you have any specific questions you’d like to ask. Otherwise, come along, eat, network and be happy.

Everyone who RSVPs by this date goes in the draw to wine a bottle of Pinot Noir, randomly drawn at the breakfast.
