We are proud to announce that Dr. P. Vijaya, Head-Academic Support Services has been award “Prof. Indra Parekh Women Education Leader”, in the World Education Congress held in Taj Land Ends, Mumbai on 4th July 2019 based on Strategic Perspective, Future Orientation, Track Record, Integrity and Ethics, Ability for Sustainable Education and Evaluation Approach in Reorienting Education for a Sustainable future. Jury for the selection of award are the senior professionals from across the globe.
Dean Prof. S.L. Gupta appreciated Dr. P. Vijaya for being selected one among the 50 Women Education Leaders.
Dr. P. Vijaya thanked Dean Prof. S.L. Gupta and WCAS team for their valuable guidance and support extended to excel in her research and career path.

# Students Bagged First Prize in Programming Contest
We proudly congratulate our students Anaam Syed, Aviral Goel and Niranjanaa Mohanbabu from the Computer Science and Engineering department for winning the First Prize in Programming Contest at Tech Fest 2019 organized by Ibri College of Applied Science on 1st May 2019. The 3 hour brainstorming contest involved solving complex computer science problems and implementing the solution by C++ code.
Students thanked Dean Prof. Dr. S.L. Gupta for his continuous support and encouragement to participate in the event.

# Students participated in 9th NSEFYP, University of Nizwa.
Students of Waljat College of Applied Sciences presented their research papers based on their Graduation Projects at the 9th National Symposium on Engineering Final Year Projects. This symposium was hosted by the University of Nizwa, Oman on 1st May 2019. There were around 84 teams from across Oman, whose papers were accepted to be presented at the symposium. From Waljat College of Applied Sciences, 2 teams took part in Poster Presentation and 4 teams took part in Oral Presentation.
Two teams were awarded the “Best Paper Award” under different sessions. The details about the winning papers are as follows:

Waljat College proudly congratulates our student Aviral Goel from the computer science department for attending the TechCamp Oman 2019 on 1st & 2nd March, 2019 organised by The US Embassy of Muscat at ITA, KOM.
TechCamp Oman is hands-on two-day event where 50 selected participants get the opportunity to interact with world-class trainers to gain the critical thinking skills, tech savvy, and ability to innovate, survive, and thrive in the market.
Aviral thanked Dean Prof. Dr. S.L, Gupta for encouraging him to participate in the event.

# # XIV GRADUATION CEREMONY OF WALJAT COLLEGE OF APPLIED SCIENCES

Waljat College of Applied Sciences in academic partnership with the prestigious Birla Institute of Technology, Ranchi will be hosting its XIV Graduation Ceremony on Sunday, 31st March 2019 at 6.30 p.m. at Al Noor Plaza, Madinat Al Sultan Qaboos under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Khalid bin Salem Al Saidi, Secretary General of the State Council.
A total of 381 students, of which 34 MBA, 26 EMBA, 215 Bachelors, 105 Diploma and 1 Advanced Diploma will be eligible to receive their respective Degree Certificates.
The dignitaries will consist Hon’ble Chairperson, Prof.(Dr.) Zuhoor Al Khanjari, Vice Chairman Dr. Abdullah Al Mahruki, Members – Mr. Salem Al Bortmany, Mr. Mohammed Mirza, Mr. Vithal Nerulkar and Mr. Saif Al Shemli from Waljat College of Applied Sciences and Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) M.K. Mishra and the Registrar Prof. (Dr.) A.P. Krishna will be presiding from Birla Institute of Technology. Prof. (Dr.) S.L.Gupta, Dean, WCAS, will be presenting annual report 2017-2018.
The event will also witness felicitating the Toppers with Gold Medals.

Cultural club, Music Club along with Fine Arts Club organized various events such as fashion show, traditional dance and music program, skit, face painting and cake decoration on 27/2/19.

Students of Computer Science & Engineering along with alumni of Waljat College of Applied Science participated in the Google Hashcode 2019 team programming contest held at GUTech Oman on 28/2/19 from 9PM TO 1AM.
Three of our teams participated and the students were awareded programming bootcamp sponsorship.

WCAS Organizes College Cricket Tournament
The Annual College Cricket tournament was conducted by the Sports club Coordinator Mr. Rajeev Rajan and Sports club Secretary Druvith Patra on 17th and 18th of February, 2019 in the college cricket ground. The league rounds and semi-finals were held on 17th while the finals was played on 18th February 2019.
The tournament was organized both for boys and girls.
Five teams were participated in boys group and two in girls group in Cricket tournament. The final match and the prize distribution will be held on 27th February.
