In partnership with Barangay Dapdap, Legazpi City, this initiative aims to promote an active and healthy lifestyle while strengthening community engagement through sports and recreation.

Bicol University Institute of Physical Education, Sports and Recreation (BU IPESR) warmly welcomed Congressman Alfred Delos Santos during his courtesy visit with President Dr. Baby Boy Benjamin III and Director Dr. Carina L. Sales.

During the visit, Congressman Delos Santos revisited the building he generously supported, now known as the BSESS Building, and discussed its continued development and improvements.

The development of the building reflects the continued support of our local leaders for BU IPESR. Phase 1 was initiated through the efforts of Congressman Joey Sarte Salceda, while Phase 2 was supported by Congressman Alfred Delos Santos, further advancing the development of the facility.

Among the improvements discussed for the building is the establishment of a multipurpose court, which may accommodate pickleball and other sports and recreational activities, providing students and the university community with a more functional space for physical activity and recreation.

This continuing partnership underscores the shared commitment to strengthening BU IPESR’s facilities and creating better spaces for learning, sports, physical education, and recreation.

The most awaited annual event is back! The Bicol University Olympics returns this September 14–19, 2026, embracing the theme: "𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐞: 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐞, 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫."

More than just a display of athletic skill across different campuses and colleges, this year’s Olympics serves as a powerful reminder that true victory extends past winning medals and truly shows ''IPAKITA ANG GALING NG BUENO''. Through every challenge, our athletes strive not only to compete, but to inspire resilience, instill discipline, and promote physical health and wellness. By rising above obstacles together, we cultivate a deep sense of pride and empower the entire BU community to achieve greater heights as one unified force.

At the heart of BU’s athletic spirit is the University Sports Development Program Office (BU USDP). Working hand-in-hand with the Institute of Physical Education, Sports, and Recreation (IPESR) and the BU Athletic Board, the BU USDP elevates university athletics by driving engagement, school spirit, and athletic passion. By providing essential resources, training, and opportunities, the office empowers athletes to excel while promoting health and physical wellness across the university ensuring every Bicolano is inspired to rise and thrive beyond the finish line.

[ LOOK ] The BSESS FSC 4 students demonstrated outstanding dedication and leadership throughout the 2-Day Basic Life Support and Occupational First Aid Training together with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Daraga. By engaging actively in intensive CPR simulations, bandaging exercises, and casualty management protocols, these future sports and fitness professionals successfully mastered essential emergency response techniques and rapid decision-making skills.

This accomplishment reflects the strong commitment to fostering safety, readiness, and proactive care in their field. Equipped with these critical, life-saving competencies, the BSESS FSC 4 class is now fully prepared to lead by example, ensuring safer athletic environments, academic spaces, and surrounding communities.

Demonstrating our unwavering commitment to quality assurance and institutional accreditation, the Bicol University Institute of Physical Education, Sports, and Recreation (BUIPESR) extends a warm welcome to the ISO 9001:2015 Internal Audit Team led by Dr. Christian Y. Sy, together with Prof. Daves Tonga, Prof. Ma. Cecile P. Aguilar, and Dr. Gilbert Lopez.

This internal audit plays a pivotal role in strengthening our operational frameworks, verifying regulatory compliance, and upholding high-quality educational standards across all programs.

By continuously aligning our practices with quality management systems, BUIPESR actively ensures organizational excellence and long-term institutional growth.

[ LOOK ] Day 1 of the Basic Life Support and Occupational First Aid Training was a success!

The Bicol University Institute of Physical Education Sports and Recreation (IPESR) successfully equipped our BSESS FSC 4 students together with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Daraga with critical, hands-on emergency response skills. Through intensive lectures and practical simulations, participants honed their decision-making and immediate care capabilities to ensure safety in both athletic and everyday environments.

Building on today’s strong foundation, we are ready to keep the momentum going for Day 2 tomorrow! We look forward to another highly productive session as our future sports and fitness leaders continue to take active roles in building safer, more resilient communities. See you all tomorrow, Champions!
