Empowering educators for a stronger tomorrow! The Bicol University Institute of Physical Education, Sports, and Recreation (BU IPESR) successfully conducted its Faculty Enhancement activity from August 4โ5, 2026, at the IPESR Faculty Office. Bringing together both regular faculty and professorial lecturers, this two-day event served as a collaborative space to hone teaching strategies, strengthen academic standards, and foster continuous growth within the institute.
Guided by the theme "Anchored on Values, Driven by Innovation for Instructional Resilience and Human-Centered Service," the program highlighted our shared commitment to excellence and compassionate instruction. By equipping our educators with modern tools, updated frameworks, and innovative methodologies, BU IPESR continues to champion quality physical education, sports, and recreation that put students at the heart of learning.
Todayโs schedule is packed with insightful sessions designed to refine our educational frameworks starting with an engaging talk on Assessment Design & Academic Integrity led by Prof. Daves L. Tonga, followed by a hands-on workshop focused on revising key assessment rubrics. The morning also provides a valuable platform for direct engagement during the Hour with Top Management, bringing together key leaders from the Office of the President and various Vice-Presidential offices to align our shared vision.
As we move into the afternoon, the focus shifts toward continuous development with Session 2: Instructional Design & Course Preparation, highlighting an orientation on the Revitalized Learning Continuity Plan presented by Prof. Mark Glenn L. Tejada. Together, these sessions equip us with the tools, updates, and strategies needed to ensure high-quality instruction and seamless academic continuity.
Wrapping up the day with clarity and vision! During Session 3: Syllabus Development & OBE Alignment, Dr. Rebecca O. Bercasio led an insightful discussion on structuring course syllabi to seamlessly align with Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) standards. Her session provided valuable strategies on mapping learning outcomes, refining course objectives, and ensuring that our instructional frameworks effectively support student success.
By grounding our course design in OBE principles, we continue to enhance the quality and relevance of our academic programs. A big thank you to Dr. Bercasio for guiding our faculty through this essential step toward instructional excellence and curriculum alignment!
