This China-Philippines Vocational Education Exchange provided participants with an immersive learning experience focused on Chinaโ€™s rapidly developing new energy vehicle industry and its three core technologies: battery systems, electric motors, and electronic control systems. It also highlighted approaches to developing new energy vehicle academic programs, designing industry-responsive curricula, managing training facilities, strengthening schoolโ€“enterprise collaboration, and ensuring teaching quality.

During the opening activities, the Philippine delegation was welcomed by GXTCME officials led by ๐•๐ข๐œ๐ž ๐๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ข๐๐ž๐ง๐ญ ๐‹๐ข๐ฎ ๐‰๐ข๐ž, together with the institutionโ€™s deans and directors. ๐Œ๐ซ. ๐€๐ฅ๐ฅ๐š๐ง ๐˜๐š๐ง๐ , Chairman of LCETPA, also supported the delegation throughout the first day of activities.

Participants attended presentations on Chinaโ€™s talent-development strategies for the electric vehicle industry, its vocational education system, and GXTCMEโ€™s EV technology curriculum. They also toured the collegeโ€™s advanced training facilities, which featured intelligent manufacturing equipment, virtual reality applications, robotics, and specialized laboratories designed to prepare students for the future of sustainable mobility.

The delegates likewise visited ๐’๐€๐ˆ๐‚-๐†๐Œ-๐–๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ , where they gained first-hand insights into automotive manufacturing, industrial robotics, vehicle safety and crash-testing technologies, and recent developments in battery systems. Additional laboratory activities at GXTCME allowed the participants to examine hands-on training approaches that develop competencies aligned with the needs of the automotive industry.

Beyond technical knowledge, the seminar emphasized the value of sustained Chinaโ€“Philippines collaboration in vocational and engineering education. It provided participating institutions with insights that may guide the development of new energy vehicle-related programs, training facilities, curriculum systems, and industry partnerships based on their respective institutional contexts.

Through the participation of Engineering academic managers, UC strengthens its commitment to internationalization, industry-responsive engineering education, innovative teaching and learning, and the preparation of future-ready graduates for emerging fields such as electric mobility and intelligent transportation.

The College of Engineering continues to strengthen its internationalization and industry-academe engagement initiatives through a series of institutional visits and partnership activities conducted in Taiwan from May 5 to 8, 2026.

Representing the University were Engr. Dionisio Tandingan Jr., the Director of the Institute of Teaching and Learning and On-the-Job Training (OJT) adviser, together with Dr. Rose Ellen N. Macabiog, the academic Dean of the College of Engineering. The delegates conducted ocular visit at Actron Technology Corporation to monitor the deployment and onboarding of six (6) Computer Engineering students undergoing international internship training.

During the visit, they witnessed the student orientation and onboarding activities to verify the alignment of training assignments with the learning outcomes of the Universityโ€™s OJT program. The activity also aimed to ensure the welfare, safety, and smooth transition of the student interns as they begin their professional immersion in Taiwanโ€™s electronics and automotive technology industry.

The visit further reinforced the institutional collaboration between the University and Actron Technology Corporation, supporting the Collegeโ€™s continuing efforts toward global exposure, experiential learning, and industry-responsive engineering education. Through direct coordination with company representatives, the University sought to strengthen mechanisms for student support, internship supervision, and future collaborative opportunities.

The UC delegation also visited Optoway Technology Inc., and Viking Tech Corporation to explore prospective internship placements and expand international opportunities for engineering students.

Optoway Technology Inc. is recognized for its specialization in optical communication technologies, particularly fiber-optic components and optical transceivers utilized in telecommunications, industrial systems, data centers, and high-speed networking applications. Meanwhile, Viking Tech Corporation is known for its expertise in manufacturing passive electronic components, including resistors, inductors, capacitors, and current-sensing devices widely used in automotive, industrial, medical, communication, and consumer electronics sectors.

During the visits, the UC delegates were introduced to the companiesโ€™ operational systems and manufacturing environments, where they observed production workflows, engineering processes, and quality assurance practices. These engagements provided valuable insights into emerging technologies, advanced manufacturing standards, and workforce practices within Taiwanโ€™s globally competitive electronics industry.

The delegation likewise conducted interviews with Filipino professionals and workers employed in the companies to gain perspectives on their work experiences, professional development, compensation, workplace culture, and daily life in Taiwan. These discussions provided meaningful information that may guide future student deployment, welfare preparation, and institutional support initiatives for international internship programs.
The College of Engineering emphasized that these activities form part of the Universityโ€™s broader commitment to academic excellence, internationalization, industry immersion, and the development of globally competitive engineering graduates capable of adapting to rapidly evolving technological environments.

In line with its strategic thrust toward internationalization and global competitiveness, the College of Engineering of the University of the Cordilleras proudly announces that six (6) BS in Computer Engineering students have been selected to participate in an international On-the-Job Training (OJT) program at Actron Technology Corporation, located in Taoyuan City, Taiwan.

The internship program will run from May 5, 2026 to November 1, 2026, providing students with valuable exposure to global engineering practices in the field of automotive electronics. Established in 1998, Actron Technology Corporation is a recognized manufacturer specializing in the design and development of electronic components for vehicles, guided by its vision of becoming โ€œthe global leading supplier of automotive electronic components.โ€

The participating students are scheduled to depart on May 5, 2026, accompanied by Engr. Dionisio Tandingan Jr., OJT Adviser, and Dr. Rose Ellen Macabiog, Dean of the CoE. Their presence will ensure a smooth transition and onboarding process for the students, including the verification of training alignment with academic outcomes, monitoring of student welfare, and strengthening of institutional partnerships. The visit will also serve as an avenue to engage with prospective industry collaborators to expand international internship opportunities for future UC engineering students.

This initiative reflects the Collegeโ€™s commitment to producing globally competent engineers by immersing students in real-world, industry-based learning environments beyond national borders. It reinforces the Universityโ€™s mission to deliver relevant and transformative education that prepares graduates for dynamic professional landscapes.

Moreover, this activity aligns with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
SDG 4: Quality Education, by providing inclusive and equitable access to high-quality international training and experiential learning opportunities;
SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, by enhancing studentsโ€™ employability and readiness for the global workforce;
SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through strengthened collaboration between academia and international industry partners.

Through this international OJT engagement, UC-CoE continues to advance its vision of excellence, innovation, and global relevance empowering future engineers to become competent professionals and responsible contributors to society.
