Christ, the Sun That Never Sets

Christ is the sun that never sets, the true Light that shines.

In the Gospel according to John, Jesus reveals Himself as the true Light of the world:

“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” — John 8:12

This teaches that Christ is the source of spiritual light. His truth dispels darkness, strengthens us in times of despair, and guides us in the path of righteousness.

Lord Jesus, our refuge and strength, we humbly ask for your protection and mercy on the people of the Philippines. Spare the injured, comfort the grieving, and shelter the vulnerable.

Keep our families safe from harm and preserve those at greatest risk. Grant wisdom, strength, and courage to rescuers and leaders as they serve.

Through the intercession of the Mother of our Lord Jesus, Mary, hear our plea, pour out your mercy, and surround every home and heart with your peace.

May your mercy renew our hope and strengthen us to serve one another in love.

My Visions

He ran into her while she was on vacation—out of nowhere, like only happens in dreams. No drama, no big talks. Just the two of them, pretending for a moment that nothing had ever ended. Before she headed back to the airport, they made a quick plan: meet one last time before her flight. She’d bring some of his stuff with her—little things he’d left behind over time.

When the day came, he waited at the spot they agreed on, scanning every face that walked by. Minutes passed. No sign of her. Then he saw it: his things, sitting there on a chair, neatly piled. She wasn’t around. No message, no goodbye. Just his old belongings, like they’d been quietly returned.

He picked them up, looked toward the door one more time, and realized—she was already gone. The chapter was closed. All that remained were the things he needed to carry forward.

He lifted his things, let the silence say what neither of them would, and walked on.

A Golden Milestone: UBHS Banaag 1993 Celebrates a Grand 50th Birthday

There are moments in life that deserve more than just a passing acknowledgment, and hitting the half-century mark is undeniably one of them. On Saturday, July 4, 2026 at Le Monet in Camp John Hay, the tight-knit community of the University of Baguio High School (UBHS) Banaag Class of 1993 gathered for an unforgettable evening of nostalgia, laughter, and high-spirited celebration to mark their collective 50th birthday.

The atmosphere was nothing short of magical as batchmates, who once walked the high school corridors together decades ago, reunited to honor their shared history and the journeys they have individually taken. Orchestrated flawlessly by the charismatic Master of Ceremonies, Mr. Kevin Garcia, the evening was arranged so every attendee could enjoy a warm, nostalgic walk down memory lane.

An Elegant Welcome & Red Carpet Glamour
The festivities commenced at 5:00 PM with an exclusive Hosted Bar & Social Hour during event registration. This initial hour allowed arriving batchmates to shake off the years, reacquaint themselves, and share warm embraces over crafted cocktails.

By 6:00 PM, the glamour intensified during the Red Carpet Entrance, gracefully hosted by Mr. Arnel Sy and Ms. Jen Calpito. It was a lovely sight as the Golden Celebrants arrived, looking radiant and gracefully in tune with the evening’s gold-and-black theme. Members who couldn’t be there in person, including Eugene Apron and Jerry Rojo, joined the celebration by watching the event live online.

Honoring the Past and Embracing the Present
The formal program opened at 7:00 PM with an elegant welcome address from Ms. University of Baguio 1991, Pauline Tabangcura Dizon. To ground the evening in gratitude, Mr. Wendell Manaois led a solemn opening prayer, followed by the proud singing of the National Anthem and the beloved Awit ng UB.

Amidst the joy, the batch took a poignant moment to remember those who could only be there in spirit. Ms. Regina Mamangon led a moving Tribute to our Departed Batchmates, ensuring that while time moves forward, the memories of missing friends remain eternally preserved in the hearts of Class '93.

A Feast of Entertainment and Connection

The heart of the evening unfolded during the Dinner Service & Program from 7:30 PM onwards. While guests indulged in a premium culinary spread, an open floor for acknowledgments allowed attendees to offer brief, heartfelt remarks to their lifelong friends.

The energy in the room soared with live Batchmate Performances and highly engaging parlor games organized by Ms. Ma. Buena Barrientos Esteban. From nostalgic dance steps to shared laughter during the games, it was clear that while the physical years had advanced, the youthful spirit of Banaag '93 remained completely untouched.

The program culminated in a spectacular Dance For All and a special segment dedicated to Recognitions and Awards, spearheaded by Ms. Jen Calpito, celebrating the incredible achievements and enduring dedication of various batch members.

A surprise performance by Alfredo "Red" Balanag a former Cry Baby Dance Rebel, who danced one of their signature moves to Erasure’s “Always.” Here’s hoping the whole Cry Baby Dance Rebels team can reunite and join us soon.

A Graceful Conclusion

As the night drew to a close around 9:30 PM, Col. Ariel Kalahi delivered a touching closing address, thanking everyone for making the journey to celebrate this monumental milestone together. Before saying their final goodbyes at 10:00 PM, Ms. Belle Ramos managed the distribution of specially crafted commemorative souvenirs, giving everyone a physical piece of history to take home.

Behind the Scenes & Highlights

Throughout the five-hour celebration, a premium photo booth remained open (from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM) to capture candid smiles, silly poses, and elegant group portraits.

Excitement stayed at an all-time high between program segments as competitive raffle drawings were conducted, sending many lucky batchmates home with marvelous prizes.

Night That Wouldn’t End

The five-hour celebration felt all too brief. While some of the mothers headed straight home, others stayed on for a long-missed snack and drinks at Café Will on Legarda Road, saying their goodbyes again at dawn—as if unwilling to let the night end.

Gone Before Us, Loved Forever

Love and friendship leave marks on our lives that can reach beyond death. There are many things the human mind cannot explain. :( What I do know is that they have gone ahead of us, and one day we will all follow. Cry Baby Motion: Baguio's Dance Rebels Ignite the 90's

The Cry Baby Motion Crew Dancers (CBMCD) sparked joy and rhythm across Baguio's youth scene in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Their story is a vibrant celebration of friendship, creativity, and unstoppable energy that lit up high school and college stages.

Humble Beginnings

In their third year in 1991 at University of Baguio Preparatory High School (UB Prep HS), under awesome teacher Ms. Bugaoan's encouragement, friends formed a dance crew at a birthday party in La Trinidad.

Initial members like Raymond Calub, Francis Nacionales, and Ernesto Navarro helped shape it, but the core five shone: Reynante "Reyban" Bancod, Jose "D**g" Versoza, Alfredo "Red/Pido" Balanag, Kate Marlow Puno, and Eugene "Eugs" Navarro.

Francis stayed on as DJ, while Ricky Samidan joined as the fun "Manager"—dance skills optional, heart required. Inspired by Johnny Depp's rebellious Cry-Baby film, they channeled that cool greaser vibe.

The Breakthrough Moment

Planning to join a packed DAP-Ayan dance contest, they pivoted to an "intermission number" with the music "STAR" by Simple Red - New Wave Recording. Teachers and students went wild—it buzzed through UBHS campus, birthing CBMCD, modeled after like the Universal Motion Dancers (UMD) and Streetboys. Practices filled Kate's spacious Quezon Hill home, turning sweat into magic.

Rise to Fame

By fourth-year highs and first-year college at University of Baguio, CBMCD owned the spotlight. Custom tracks—arranged at Bombo Radyo, STAR FM and DWHB Radio—set them apart, landing gigs at La Trinidad birthdays and UB events. Rey and Jose drew fan letters from thrilled lower-year girls (and some playful envy), while teachers paired them for star turns.

Rival schools like Pines, SLU, and BCF packed UB Gym for intramurals and anniversaries; some Pines kids even transferred to join the fun. UB Talent scooped them up for Baguio Convention Center shows alongside the official University of Baguio Dance Group.

Signature Moves:
Their high-energy setlist rocked crowds: Dying Inside, Why?,I Saw the Sign and Carolina.

By third-year college, studies slowed the beat, but the memories danced on—capped by a joyful 25th reunion at Eugs Navarro's place in Bacnotan, La Union on January 25, 2019.

The Story Behind, Seams in Halves

The painting portrays a woman who mastered survival by embracing her two sides—one radiant, one resilient.

One half of her face glowed with the warm red of laughter and the light of being truly seen. That side recalled gentle hands running through her hair, voices whispering her name like a cherished secret. It thrived in lively rooms bursting with sound, daring to feel every joy and ache fully.

The other half stayed quiet, cool gray, forever watchful. That eye remained sharp when exhaustion begged for rest, teaching her to weigh words carefully and hone pain into something precise, never letting it flood unchecked. It rarely wept, but it held every memory tight.

The line between them wasn't a scar—it was a seam. Each day, she mended herself: warmth fused to steel, softness forged into strength. Her lips stayed boldly red, a stubborn burst of color proving, even in hushed words or trembling tones, "I can still love."

To others, she seemed distant, her lines hard to decipher. They never saw how those bold strokes shielded something tender within.

Look closer: one eye cradling hope like a hidden flame, her divided face still turned boldly outward, her heart beating fierce enough to repaint her world. She wasn't broken. She was brave enough to bare the true cost of wholeness.

Painting a Memory with Dad

The artist shared the most memorable experience she had when she was painting with her father.

He showed me patience with every stroke and reminded me to enjoy the process instead of rushing the result. That day, the painting became more than art. Banaag 93: Uphill Warriors Unleashed

In 2010, Eric Ramos and Renato Velasco envisioned reuniting their batchmates by joining the Banaag 93 cycling team. After five years of persistence, their dream took shape when Orlan Pitlongay and Louie Villaduz signed on.

Team Growth

The team's dedicated rides inspired others to follow. William Magalong, Jonathan Valera, Bullet Arellano, and Joel Esquivas soon joined, fueling the team's momentum.

Victories and Values

The Banaag 93 Cycling Team celebrated their first victory in the 2020 Hari ng Ahon Cycling competition, conquering the roughly 40 to 45 km route from Camp 1 to Loakan Airport uphill race in an impressive 2 hours and 15 minutes.They defended their title in 2021,conquering an even tougher 45 to 48 km course in a faster 2 hours and 5 minutes.

The team attributes their success to unwavering faith in God, with Eric highlighting how true friendship flourishes through mutual loyalty and support.

The team extends special commendation to Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong for his participation in the event. They look forward to more batchmates joining future competitions to keep the bonds of friendship strong.
