College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences - Baliuag University

College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences - Baliuag University Welcome to the OFFICIAL FACEBOOK PAGE of BU College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences Domingo Santiago Sr., the founder of the Institution and Atty. Mrs.

HISTORY of the College:

With the energetic leadership and strong determination of Mr. Domingo Santiago Jr., who was then the President of Baliuag Colleges, the School of Nursing was formally opened in June 1974 offering the 4-year Graduate Nurse (GN) Program. There were about eighteen (18) versatile students coming from the different regions of the country who were invited to join at the start. O

f the eighteen (18) pioneer group of students, fourteen (14) succeeded in finishing the course and graduated with the diploma of Graduate Nurse in 1977. Fortunately, eleven (11) passed the Nurse Board Examination given the same year and the other three (3) graduates passed the following year. Full government recognition was given by the Ministry of Education and Culture the following year converting the School to College of Nursing offering 5 – year Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program. Cleopatra M. Aquino was appointed as the first Principal in 1974 and Dean of the College of Nursing in 1978. The position was left vacant when she resigned in the same year and this was temporarily taken by Mrs. Nora L. Barretto, who was then the College Secretary. Shortly after, Mrs. Teresita Nolasco expressed her willingness to assume the position in 1979 but better opportunities abroad prompted her to leave the college after three (3) years. One of the pioneer faculty members, Miss Elizabeth R. Roxas, known to have a cheerful disposition, dedication and an executive ability was appointed to become Dean of the College of Nursing from 1982 up to present. Hardly, only few students admitted were from the service areas of Baliuag and still little was known to the community about the nursing course being offered. With the concern of the faculty members, career talks and school visitation to all nearby secondary schools was regularly conducted each year and fruitfully, today the majority of the nursing population came from its service areas. Since 1974, the College of Nursing established agreement with the Bulacan Provincial Hospital now Bulacan Medical Center as its base hospital for the clinical experiences of the students. The school is also affiliated with Baliuag District Hospital, Bustos and Baliuag Rural Health Units. For clinical experiences in other special areas, the school is affiliated with San Lazaro Hospital for Communicable Disease Nursing experience, in National Center for Mental Health for mental health and psychiatric nursing experience, in Philippine Orthopedic Center for orthopedic nursing experience. At present ,the school is also affiliated with Castro Maternity and General Hospital, Marcelo-Padillla Hospital, Sto Nino Hospital and Bustos Community Hospital. The Related Learning Experiences of the students were carefully planned and implemented with the supervision of qualified Clinical Instructors to provide the best opportunities for the acquisition of adequate knowledge, skills and attitude becoming of a fully functioning, competent , caring and dedicated professional nurses. Nursing students are also exposed to the total academic atmosphere in Baliuag University, participating with the same activities and sharing the same privileges enjoyed by all college students. The College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences, having satisfactorily met the standards and fulfilled all the requirements of the PACUCOA as its accrediting agency, was granted Level 1 Accredited status in 1993, Level II Accredited status in 1995, Level II re-accredited status in the year 1996 , Level II first re-accredited status in 2000, Level II second re-accredited status in the year 2006, Level II 3rd re-accredited ststus in 2011, Level III accredited status in 2011, Level III re-accredited status in 2013, Level IV accredited status in 2016 and Level iv 1st re-accredited status in 2021. Based on the statistical report made by the Professional Regulation Commission, the College of Nursing was considered as one of the high performing nursing school in Region III with the highest over-all passing rate in the Nurse Licensure Examination from 1994 to 1998. Information received from the alumni indicated that they are well placed in their profession in the different hospitals here and abroad; in Canada, Europe, USA, Australia, Asia and Middle East. This proves credit not only to themselves but to the College of Nursing as well, for having the distinction of graduating competent professional nurses locally and globally. With the inspiring record behind it, the College of Nursing continuously evaluates its offering and seeks to improve its program to provide quality nursing education to future professional nurses who are not only caring and committed but also professionally competent. equipped with positive values, information technology and communication skills. In 2020, when the supervision of the offering of Bachelor of Science of Medical Technology was transferred to the College of Nursing from the College of Liberal Arts and General Education hence the name College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences or CNAHS was then adopted. PHILOSOPHY OF THE COLLEGE OF NURSING and ALLIED HEALTH SCIENCES
