Third-year BS Environmental Science students from Surigao del Norte State University (SNSU) recently embarked on a two-day educational field trip to Visayas State University - Baybay, one of the country's leading institutions in forestry and environmental studies.

On the first day, the students toured the campus and concluded at the Faculty of Forestry and Environmental Science (FFES) Complex, where they were welcomed by Dr. Hernando L. Mondal. They also attended an ecology lecture by For. Whyz O. Calimbayan.

The following day, they engaged in a hands-on field activity on tree mensuration led by For. Samuel O. Bernaldez, applying classroom concepts to practical forestry work.

The 'Very Scenic University' was chosen for its advanced expertise, well-equipped laboratories, and a unique environment where ecosystems can be observed "from ridge to reef."

For the SNSU students, the field trip was an eye-opening experience. It not only strengthened their academic foundation but also deepened their appreciation of environmental science as both a discipline and a calling.
