𝘼 𝙒𝙖𝙡𝙠 𝙤𝙛 𝙁𝙖𝙞𝙩𝙝, 𝘼 𝙅𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙮 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙋𝙪𝙧𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙚 🕊️

With hearts united in faith, hope, and gratitude, the Hospitality and Tourism Management Department joined in welcoming the new academic year through the Mass of the Holy Spirit and the Sapientia a Deo Walk.

The department joined the Mass of the Holy Spirit, offering the new academic year to God and seeking His guidance, wisdom, and grace. Together, we entrust every lesson, challenge, and opportunity ahead to the Holy Spirit, trusting that He will guide us throughout the journey.

Our freshies also took their first steps into their Marian journey by the Sapientia a Deo Walk, carrying white creative roses as symbols of their prayers, intentions, and hopes for the years ahead.

May this new chapter inspire every Marian to learn with purpose, serve with heart, and grow with grace. May our freshies find joy in every first step, and may the entire HTM community continue to walk forward in faith and unity.

🍃𝗝𝗧𝗛𝗠𝗔𝗣-𝗦𝗠𝗨 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲: 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗱𝗮 𝗦𝗠𝗨 – 𝗖𝗛𝗦𝗙 2026

On August 7, the JTHMAP-SMU Chapter, together with its faculty members, participated in Brigada SMU – Clean, Healthy, Safe, and Friendly (CHSF) as part of the University’s preparations for the opening of the new academic year.

Assigned to the Georges De Buscherre Building and St. Joseph Inn, student-volunteers carried out cleaning and maintenance activities to help ensure that the facilities are ready for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

The Chapter extends its heartfelt gratitude to all faculty members, officers, and student-volunteers who dedicated their time and effort to this initiative. Through your collective efforts, another meaningful step was taken toward creating a clean, healthy, safe, and welcoming campus for the entire Marian community.

WHAT SHOULD A COLLEGE EDUCATION LOOK LIKE?

Should learning end when the class is over?

Or should it continue wherever opportunities exist. In training centers, aboard passenger ships, and alongside industry professionals?

For our Tourism and Hospitality Management students, learning meant completing the internationally recognized Basic Training (SOLAS) at Great Seas Mariners Training and Assessment Center in Cavite and experiencing hospitality operations aboard M/V St. Francis Xavier through the Hospitality on Board Program of 2GO Travel.

These experiences taught lessons that cannot be measured by grades alone. They built discipline, professionalism, resilience, and a deeper understanding of an industry where safety and service always go hand in hand.

At Saint Mary's University, we believe education is most meaningful when it prepares students not only to earn a degree, but to embrace the opportunities and responsibilities that await beyond graduation.

MAY SLEEPING GIANT PALA SA CORON

Alam n'yo ba na may alamat tungkol sa isang Sleeping Giant na nagbabantay sa likas na yaman ng Coron?

Sa panahon ngayon, sino pa ba ang naniniwala sa mga higante? Pero baka nga dahil sa Sleeping Giant na iyon, nananatiling isang paraiso ang Coron—sobrang ganda na kahit gaano pa kaganda ang camera mo, hindi nito kayang makuha ang tunay na ganda ng lugar.

Sa aming paglalakbay, napuntahan namin ang Maquinit Hot Spring, ang nag-iisang saltwater hot spring sa Pilipinas. Binisita rin namin ang Kayangan Lake, isa sa pinakamalinaw na lawa sa bansa na pinaniniwalaang bahagi ng isang sinaunang volcanic crater. Sumisid kami sa Skeleton Wreck, kung saan ang isang barkong lumubog noong panahon ng digmaan ay nagsisilbi na ngayong tahanan ng makukulay na corals at napakaraming isda. Nag-relax kami sa C*C Beach, ang nag-iisang public beach sa Coron, at namangha sa katahimikan ng Twin Lagoon, kung saan nagtatagpo ang malinaw na tubig at ang matatayog na limestone cliffs. Ayon sa alamat, ang Twin Lagoon ay nabuo mula sa sakripisyo ng dalawang magkapatid na babae para sa kanilang tribo.

Napakaraming kuwento ang dala ng Coron. May mga alamat na ipinapasa sa bawat henerasyon, at mayroon ding mga aral na hindi kailangang sabihin para maintindihan.

Habang pinakikinggan namin ang mga kuwentong ito, napagtanto namin na kami rin pala ay gumagawa ng sarili naming kuwento.

Tulad ng Sleeping Giant, unti-unti ring nagigising ang aming mga pangarap bilang mga estudyante ng Hospitality and Tourism Management. Bawat biyahe, bawat hamon, at bawat karanasan ay unti-unting humuhubog sa amin para maging mga propesyunal na nais naming maging.

At kung may Twin Lagoon ang Coron, mayroon din kaming sariling pinaghuhugutan ng lakas—ang aming mga magulang. Sa bawat sakripisyong ginagawa nila para maranasan namin ang mga ganitong pagkakataon, sila ang tahimik na inspirasyon na nagtutulak sa amin na ipagpatuloy ang aming mga pangarap.

Marahil, ang pinakamagandang kuwentong maiuuwi namin mula sa Coron ay hindi lamang ang mga lugar na aming napuntahan, kundi ang realization na balang araw, magigising din nang lubusan ang mga pangarap na matagal na naming pinanghahawakan— tulad ng Sleeping Giant ng Coron.
