𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌 𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒑𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆 𝒘𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒔? 𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌 𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏! 👀

Some of the most important cheesemakers are 𝘁𝗼𝗼 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗲. Bacteria, yeasts, and molds help turn milk into the many cheeses we enjoy today.

During 𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗶𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, these microorganisms break down parts of the milk, creating the 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗳𝗹𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗿𝘀, 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 of different cheeses. Some cheeses can even contain 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀!🦠

Different microbes also help create different types of cheese. For example, 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙥𝙩𝙤𝙘𝙤𝙘𝙘𝙪𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙤𝙥𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙪𝙨 and 𝙇𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙤𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙪𝙨 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙫𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙪𝙨 are associated with 𝗦𝘄𝗶𝘀𝘀- and 𝗜𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻-𝘀𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘀𝗲𝘀, while 𝙇𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙤𝙘𝙤𝙘𝙘𝙪𝙨 𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙨 helps in the production of cheeses such as 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗱𝗱𝗮𝗿 and 𝗚𝗼𝘂𝗱𝗮.

Molds have their own special role, too. 𝙋𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙪𝙢 𝙧𝙤𝙦𝙪𝙚𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙞 creates the 𝗯𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝘃𝗲𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗯𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘀𝗲, while 𝙋𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙪𝙢 𝙘𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙞 helps form the 𝘀𝗼𝗳𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁.

The Philippine Association of Food Technologists – Psi Chapter informs all 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 that 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗔𝗙𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿: 𝗕𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗲𝘁, the BS Food Technology Acquaintance Event, is 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 and shall serve as a 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 for Academic Year 2026–2027.

The activity will be held on October 22, 2026 (Thursday), from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the DRER Gym, USTP, CM Recto Avenue, Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro, with registration beginning at 12:30 PM. The event aims to strengthen 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲, 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸, 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 among Food Technology students through interactive games, shared activities, film presentations, and community-building engagements.

Participation in PAFTogether: Beyond the Basket constitutes a 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. Students whose attendance and participation are not satisfactorily completed and verified may be considered noncompliant with the activity requirement, subject to applicable organizational and departmental policies.

All students are expected to cooperate fully and uphold 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁, 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 throughout the activity.
