𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 | 𝐁𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡-𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐀𝐀𝐂𝐂𝐔𝐏 𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐈𝐈𝐈 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭
The Bachelor of Industrial Technology major in Electrical Technology (BIndTech-Elect) program of Bohol Island State University (BISU) – Calape Campus underwent a three-day virtual accreditation visit conducted by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) from September 7 to 9, 2026, as part of its 3rd Survey Visit, Level III–Phase II.
The accreditation visit evaluated the program based on established standards for quality assurance and continuous improvement in higher education. The assessment also provided an opportunity for the program to present evidence of its practices, initiatives, and improvements.
The AACCUP panel was composed of Dr. Reynaldo G. Salamat of Bulacan State University, Dr. Noel S. Quidato of Iloilo Science and Technology University, who served as Team Leader, and Dr. Ronie G. Torres, who served as Overall Coordinator.
During the virtual visit, presentations covered several areas of the program. Prof. Ronald C. Taguba, chairperson of the BIndTech-Electrical program, presented the Instruction area, followed by Generic Talili, MSIT, who presented Faculty Development and Linkages, and Ric Vincent Fullitan, who presented the Research and Extension Program.
Following the presentations, the panel reviewed the supporting documents submitted by the program and raised questions to validate the evidence and assess the program's practices and initiatives. For BIndTech-Electrical, Faculty Development and Linkages were among the areas highlighted in the assessment.
In his remarks, Dr. Torres emphasized that accreditation goes beyond compliance, describing it as a continuing process through which academic programs assess whether they are achieving their goals, meeting the needs of their stakeholders, and identifying ways to improve. He also discussed the importance of sustained quality improvement and the development of practices that contribute to students and the communities served by the program.
For Faculty Development, the assessment considered the program's efforts toward continuous faculty growth through development programs, advanced studies, training, research, extension, production, and other professional pursuits. The Linkages and Consortia area also considered partnerships and their benefits in terms of academic enrichment, capacity building, and resource sharing, supported by relevant documentation.
Meanwhile, Campus Director Dr. Roxanne P. Altea said the program had been given approximately seven months following the Phase I evaluation to address recommendations and strengthen its documentation, systems, and practices.
Dr. Altea noted that the compliance period provided the program with an opportunity to reflect on its accomplishments, validate its practices, and identify areas for further improvement. She also highlighted additional evidence and initiatives developed during the period, particularly in instruction, faculty development, extension, and management.
“Accreditation is not merely about compliance. More importantly, it is a continuing commitment to quality, accountability, and improvement,” Dr. Altea said.
As the accreditation visit concluded, Dr. Altea expressed hope that the collective efforts of the program and campus community would contribute to a favorable outcome and bring BIndTech-Electrical closer to achieving Level III accreditation. She also affirmed the campus' commitment to respecting the professional judgment of the accreditors and using the evaluation as a guide for continued improvement.
