As Margaret Atwood once said, "A word after a word after a word is power," and indeed, every line we read or write carries the potential to inspire change. Literature breathes life into words and gives voices to the unspoken. As we celebrate April as Literature Month, let us celebrate the power of words, stories, and imagination. Through poems, essays, and stories, literature reflects human experiences. It allows readers to learn lessons on every page they turn, and in every story they share, we form a connection. As we celebrate, may we continue to embrace the beauty of words. Let this be a reminder that words hold power, stories create impact, and literature remains a force in shaping minds, hearts, and societies.

Another year begins today,
A quiet strength lights the way.
Lovely in ways words canโ€™t fully say,
Yet brave and steady day by day.

With dreams to chase and courage inside,
Determined steps taken with pride.
On this birthday, may your journey be long,
Filled with hope, resilient and strong.

May each new dawn bring brighter skies,
New hopes to chase, new dreams to rise.
And through the years, may you remain
Strong in heart through joy and pain.

As you celebrate your 19th birthday, may you continue to grow, succeed, and inspire those around you. May your journey be filled with knowledge, creativity, and meaningful experiences. Have a wonderful day!

โ€œGo confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.โ€

A huge round of applause to our Herald Jurnos, 4th RHEPC baggers. Congratulations!

We recognize and celebrate the achievements of our fellow English majors and campus journalists who clinched placements at the 4th Regional Higher Education Press Conference (RHEPC).

You took our flag to another height. As you were upholding integrity, excellence, talent, and knowledge during the competition, you proved that the passion journalists have was a voice that was ablaze. Ablaze, it echoes beyondโ€”beyond the campus, beyond truth, and even beyond the pages.

The Heralds of English Language and Literature Organization (HELLO) family is BEYOND proud! May your voices remain ablaze, echoing stories of truth and power.

Showcasing the voice of journalism in the Regional Higher Education Press Conference (RHEPC), College of Teacher Education (CTE) students emerged victorious as they secured awards in the various contested categories held at J&V Hotel and Resort, San Fernando, La Union, February 4-6.

With the theme "Voices Ablaze: Campus Journalists as Vigilant Truthtellers," the CTE journos under the Ricochet competed in different journalistic competitions in both English and Filipino categories.

Irish Fernandez, a 3rd-year Bachelor of Culture and Arts student, placed 2nd in Traditional Comic Strip Drawing (Filipino). Meanwhile, Arvin Boquilon ranked 7th in Digital Literary Graphics Illustration (Filipino) and also secured 7th place in Layouting.

Additionally, Chelsea Marie Irish Aragones, a third-year Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English, placed fifth in the News Writing (English) category. Alongside her, Mariedel Hilera, DevCom Editor, earned 5th place in Development Communication Writing (Filipino), while Cheryl Tamayo placed 7th in News Writing (Filipino) and 10th in Copyreading and Headline Writing (Filipino), as well as Stephen Laberinto, 7th place in Photojournalism (Filipino), a fourth-year BSEd major in English.

Alma M. Pasahol, CTE Faculty and the Northern Collegian Adviser, guided and mentored the award-winning CTE journalist towards their RHEPC journey.

With that, Fernandez, Aragones, and Hilera will advance to the Luzonwide Higher Education Press Conference (LHEPC) in March 2026.
