CTU CONSOLACION CAMPUS STRENGTHENS LITERACY INITIATIVES THROUGH MOA SIGNING FOR PROJECT REBYU 2.0 AND GUGMA SA PAGBASA 3.0

Cebu Technological University (CTU) Consolacion Campus, through the College of Education, Arts, and Sciences (CEAS), officially launched the implementation of Project R.E.B.Y.U. 2.0 (Read/Basa, Explore/Tuklasin Book/Libro, Youth/Kabataan, Understand/Unawain) and Project Gugma sa Pagbasa Phase 3.0 for their second batch of beneficiaries on August 8, 2026. The program commenced with warm and inspiring opening remarks delivered by Campus Director Dr. Sarah Jane A. Colina, who emphasized the university's unwavering commitment to community extension, educational empowerment, and fostering a strong culture of reading among local youth.

To establish the framework and core objectives of the extension projects, project leads delivered comprehensive rationales detailing their vision for the beneficiaries. Dr. Donna Mae S. Tagsip, Project Lead of Gugma sa Pagbasa, detailed the project’s mission to nurture a deep passion for reading and improve basic literacy skills among young learners. Following her, Dr. Himeji-Ken V. Dela Peña, Project Lead of Project R.E.B.Y.U., outlined the scope of Project R.E.B.Y.U. 2.0, highlighting its focus on developing critical comprehension, analytical thinking, and lifelong reading habits for student beneficiaries.

A central highlight of the event was the Ceremonial Signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), solidifying the multi-sectoral partnership between CTU Consolacion, local government units, and participating schools. Strong messages of commitment were extended by community leaders, including Hon. Neil S. Congson (Barangay Captain of Nangka), Hon. Antonietto O. Pepito (Barangay Captain of Jugan), and Hon. Fe Q. Cuyos (Barangay Captain of Tayud). Participating school heads also expressed their heartfelt messages of support, reaffirming their shared dedication to supporting student development and ensuring the successful delivery of the literacy programs.

The event concluded with Closing Remarks delivered by Dr. Elenita A. Apas, Dean of the College of Education, Arts, and Sciences (CEAS). Dr. Apas expressed her deep gratitude to all project leads, local officials, school heads, and extension partners for their collaborative spirit. She reiterated that through joint efforts like Project REBYU and Gugma sa Pagbasa, the institution will continue to bridge learning gaps and build a brighter, literate future for the youth of Consolacion.

CTU-CONSOLACION CAMPUS CONDUCTS COA ENTRANCE CONFERENCE 2026 TO REINFORCE FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY

Cebu Technological University – Consolacion Campus successfully held its Commission on Audit (COA) Entrance Conference 2026 on Wednesday, August 05, 2026, at 10:00 AM in the Campus Library. Attended by heads of offices alongside teaching and non-teaching personnel, the conference served as a key platform to promote fiscal integrity, operational efficiency, and mutual understanding between university administrators and state auditors.

The proceedings opened with a solemn invocation, the Philippine National Anthem, and the CTU Hymn, setting an auspicious tone for the gather. Dr. Sarah Jane A. Colina, Campus Director, delivered the welcome address, underscoring the institution's commitment to good governance and institutional transparency. Following her remarks, Accountant II Mr. Rener L. Malagapo presented the formal Statement of Purpose, outlining the primary objectives of the audit process and emphasizing the value of proactive financial management.

The highlight of the event was an informative presentation by Ms. Chunche G. Tan, State Auditor III from the Commission on Audit (COA), Regional Office No. 7. Ms. Tan detailed the upcoming audit scope, regulatory guidelines, and standard operating procedures essential for maintaining fiscal accountability. Closing out the formal session, Administrative Officer V Mr. Joseph R. Pegaredo delivered the closing remarks, expressing the campus's gratitude to the auditing team and reiterating the collective responsibility of all administrative and academic departments in adhering to compliance standards.

CTU CONVENES STUDENT AFFAIRS LEADERS FOR STUDENT HANDBOOK REVIEW AND AMENDMENTS

Cebu Technological University (CTU) gathered key officials and Student Affairs and Services Deans from across its various campuses for the Coordination Meeting for 2024 Student Handbook Review and Amendments, held on August 4–5, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Function Hall, CN Building, CTU Main Campus. The two-day collaborative session served as a strategic platform to revisit, refine, and update university policies, ensuring they remain responsive to the evolving needs of the student body and aligned with national educational standards.

The consultation was highlighted by the presence of key administrative leaders who provided guidance and oversight throughout the discussions. Key officials in attendance included Dr. Romeo P. Montecillo, Vice President for Student Affairs and Services; Dr. Gregorio Pajaron, CTU Main Campus Director; and Atty. Christian T. Bacus, Legal Officer. CTU Consolacion Campus was represented by its Dean of Student Affairs and Services Dr. Danilo Y. Patalinghug.Their collective expertise ensured that proposed amendments were grounded in administrative policy, institutional strategy, and legal sound governance.

Through dynamic dialogue and comprehensive review sessions, the participating Deans and administrators worked collaboratively to streamline student welfare services, clarify campus guidelines, and uphold academic integrity. As stated in CTU Memorandum No. PG21-226, s. 2026, the SSG is the official body authorized to receive and process uniform fabric orders through the University’s approved fabric provider.

Students are reminded to order their uniform fabrics only through the official SSG channels. Please avoid buying from unauthorized sellers to make sure that your uniform follows the University’s standards.

CTU CONSOLACION STUDENTS EMBARK ON SIX-MONTH INTERNATIONAL INTERNSHIP AT HYATT REGENCY HONG KONG

Cebu Technological University (CTU) has expanded its commitment to globally competitive education by deploying eight qualified students from its Main, Consolacion, Carmen, Danao, Barili, and Moalboal campuses to the Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Sha Tin. The students will undergo a six-month international internship from August 2, 2026, to January 28, 2027, gaining hands-on experience in one of Hong Kong’s renowned international hotels.

Representing CTU Consolacion Campus are two fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management students, Ms. Chariss S. Cabahug and Ms. Gretchen May B. Dadizon. Cabahug has been assigned to the Housekeeping Department, where she will develop competencies in guestroom operations, cleanliness standards, and quality assurance. Dadizon, meanwhile, will train in the Food and Beverage Department, gaining practical exposure to dining operations, guest service, food safety, and international hospitality standards.

The participation of the CTU Consolacion students was facilitated by Ms. Gladys Marie Ermac, Student Internship Abroad Program (SIAP) Chairperson, with the strong support of Dr. Sarah Jane A. Colina, Campus Director. Their efforts made possible the campus’s first participation in an international internship program—an important milestone in CTU Consolacion’s continuing pursuit of internationalization, global academic-industry linkages, and expanded experiential learning opportunities for its students. This pioneering engagement is also expected to open pathways for more students to receive meaningful training and professional exposure in reputable institutions abroad.

The Student Internship Abroad Program received the endorsement of the Commission on Higher Education after CTU complied with the requirements of CHED Memorandum Order No. 10, series of 2023, or the enhanced policies, standards, and guidelines for the Student Internship Abroad Program. The deployment is also covered by an approved Memorandum of Agreement between Cebu Technological University and Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Sha Tin, ensuring that appropriate institutional safeguards and supervision are provided throughout the students’ overseas training.

This international internship provides the CTU delegates with an invaluable opportunity to strengthen their technical knowledge, communication skills, cultural awareness, professionalism, and adaptability in a multicultural workplace. As Cabahug, Dadizon, and their fellow CTU interns begin this significant journey, they carry with them the pride of their respective campuses and the University’s commitment to producing competent, globally prepared, and service-oriented graduates.

CTU ADVANCES RESPONSIBLE PUBLIC SERVICE THROUGH REGIONAL SEMINAR-WORKSHOP ON OFFICIAL CORRESPONDENCE.

The Cebu Technological University (CTU) Center for Language and Culture, in partnership with the Commission on the Filipino Language (KWF), successfully conducted the "Panrehiyong Seminar-Workshop sa Korespondensiyang Opisyal Tungo sa Mahusay na Serbisyong Publiko" on July 29–30, 2026, at CN Hall A, Centennial Building, CTU Main Campus. Anchored on the theme, "Masinop na Dokumentasyon at Responsableng Korespondensya Opisyal Tungo sa Mahusay na Serbisyong Publiko", the activity promoted clear, accurate, and professional communication in government institutions.

The two-day seminar-workshop brought together representatives from various CTU campuses, the Cebu City Government, and other government agencies. The program sought to strengthen the use of the Filipino language in official correspondence and documentation while equipping participants with practical knowledge and skills essential to delivering efficient, responsible, and people-centered public service. The opening ceremony featured messages from Dr. Gregorio Pajaron Jr., Campus Director of CTU Main Campus; Dr. Jonita V. Literatus, CTU President; and Dr. Ramel C. Genobiagon, Vice President for Administration and Finance.
Dr. Fe A. Varona, Director of the Center for Language and Culture, presented the seminar objectives and acknowledged the participating delegates. One of the significant highlights was the oath-taking ceremony for the new members of the Filipino Language Council, which included Dr. Sarah Jane A. Colina, Campus Director of CTU Consolacion Campus. Her participation and membership in the council demonstrated CTU Consolacion’s commitment to promoting the Filipino language as an effective medium for official communication, institutional development, and public engagement.Also attending the seminar-workshop are CTUCC Filipino Faculty Ms. Grace Garcia and Ms. Grace Luna, Filipino- Chairperson.

During the first day, Atty. Marites A. Barrios-Taran, Chairperson of the Commission on the Filipino Language, discussed Executive Order No. 335 and emphasized the importance of using Filipino in government service. She also introduced the guidelines for official correspondence and facilitated a workshop on preparing professional communications. Meanwhile, Dr. Carmelita C. Abdurahman, Commissioner for Programs and Projects, delivered a lecture on the fundamentals of translation. On the second day, Mr. Jose Evic G. Duclay, Linguistics Specialist of the KWF Linguistics, Publication, and Promotion Division, discussed the National Orthography, followed by an open forum and practical workshop.

The seminar-workshop successfully deepened the participants’ understanding of proper government documentation, translation, official correspondence, and professional communication. The knowledge and competencies gained from the activity are expected to help participating institutions produce clearer, more accurate, and more responsive official documents while advancing the responsible use of Filipino in the delivery of quality public service.

SMASHING SUCCESS: CTU CONSOLACION CROWNS PICKLEBALL AND BADMINTON CHAMPIONS

The CTU Consolacion Pickleball and Badminton Tournament 2026 concluded on July 30, 2026, with an exciting Championship Game and Awarding Ceremony that celebrated athletic excellence, camaraderie, and sportsmanship among the campus’s teaching and non-teaching personnel. After three days of spirited competition, the finalists delivered impressive performances marked by powerful smashes, strategic plays, teamwork, and determination. The tournament provided employees with a meaningful opportunity to strengthen workplace relationships while promoting physical fitness, health, and wellness.

In the Pickleball Newbie Category, Ramon Laurito and Eulicarl Z. Moralde emerged as Champions, while Jovissa Baculpo and Allen Flores secured First Runner-Up. May Ancajas and Dianah Mangyao finished as Second Runner-Up. Meanwhile, in the Pickleball Advanced Category, Herminio Pepito Jr. and Vernon Remulta captured the championship title. Bouviere Gharhel Ferrer and Marc Andre Saberon earned First Runner-Up honors, while Carter Durano and Ranel Mancao claimed Second Runner-Up.

The excitement continued in the Badminton Tournament, where Lee Irish Empleo and Dianah Mangyao were crowned Champions after displaying exceptional coordination and competitive spirit. Nathaly Jane Elarcosa and Vernon Remulta finished as First Runner-Up, while Dr. Elenita Apas and Jammer Jaron secured the Second Runner-Up position. The winners and participants were recognized during the awarding ceremony for their outstanding performances, perseverance, and commitment to fair play throughout the competition.

The successful tournament was made possible through the leadership and support of Dr. Sarah Jane A. Colina, Campus Director, and the dedicated efforts of Mr. Lyndon M. Adolfo, Sports Chairperson, together with Mr. Joseph R. Pegaredo, Administrative Officer V, the tournament officials, facilitators, committees, and participating employees. The CTU Consolacion Pickleball and Badminton Tournament 2026 entered its exciting second day as teaching and non-teaching personnel battled for coveted spots in the semifinal round. The campus gymnasium came alive with swift rallies, powerful smashes, strategic placements, and enthusiastic cheers as participants displayed their athletic skills, determination, and sportsmanship. With every match becoming more competitive, the tournament continues to promote physical fitness, camaraderie, and friendly competition among employees.

As the elimination matches progressed, the strongest contenders advanced to the semifinals, raising the intensity and excitement inside the court. Beyond winning, the activity provides personnel with a meaningful opportunity to take a break from their regular responsibilities, strengthen workplace relationships, and embrace an active and healthy lifestyle. The tournament also supports the government’s continuing advocacy for employee health and wellness while reinforcing the values of teamwork, discipline, respect, and fair play.

All eyes are now on the championship round tomorrow, July 30, 2026, when the remaining players will compete for the tournament titles in pickleball and badminton. Excitement continues to build as the CTU Consolacion community anticipates thrilling final matches and the recognition of this year’s champions. OUANO OFFICIALS BOOST CTU CONSOLACION’S HEALTH AND EMERGENCY READINESS

Cebu Technological University–Consolacion Campus recently received a generous donation of medical supplies and equipment from Hon. Alfred Francis “Alfie” M. Ouano, Cebu Sixth District Provincial Board Member, and Hon. Miko Mark Z. Ouano, Member of the Sangguniang Bayan of Consolacion. The donation reflects the officials’ continuing commitment to public health, education, and the safety and well-being of students and personnel within the community.

The donated medical resources were received by Ferlyn Joy Ponsica, Kyla L. Caballero, Dianah Mangyao, and Yarra T. Ibale, together with Mr. Bouvierre Ferrer, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Chairperson of CTU Consolacion. These supplies and equipment will help strengthen the campus’s capacity to provide immediate first aid and appropriate assistance during medical emergencies, accidents, disasters, and other situations requiring a prompt response.

Also present during the turnover were Ms. Marisol Durano Asmad, Executive Secretary to the Campus Director; Dr. Arlene R. Salac, SC/PWD Chairperson; and Dr. Danilo Y. Patalinghug, Dean of Student Affairs and Services. Their presence underscored the collaborative efforts of the campus administration and its concerned offices to maintain a safe, responsive, and inclusive learning environment for the entire CTU Consolacion community.
