CEBUTECH CONSOLACION STRENGTHENS BOARD EXAM READINESS THROUGH MOCK BOARD EXAMINATION FOR EDUCATION GRADUATING STUDENTS

In line with its unwavering commitment to academic excellence and quality teacher education, Cebu Technological Universityโ€“ Consolacion Campus successfully conducted its Mock Board Examination last Friday, May 8, 2026, at the CebuTech Consolacion Gymnasium for the graduating students of the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) and Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) programs.

The activity forms part of the universityโ€™s intensive academic preparation and curriculum enhancement initiatives aimed at equipping future educators with the competence, confidence, and discipline needed to excel in the forthcoming Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT). The mock board examination serves as a simulation of the actual board examination environment, allowing students to experience time pressure, test structure, and comprehensive subject assessments while identifying their strengths and areas needing improvement before taking the national licensure examination.

The initiative strongly reflects the vision of the hardworking and dynamic Campus Director, Dr. Sarah Jane A. Colina, who continuously champions academic quality and student success. Together with the ever-active Dean of the College of Education, Arts and Sciences, Dr. Elenita A. Apas, the campus remains steadfast in its aspiration to produce future board topnotchers and maintain CebuTechโ€™s growing reputation for excellence. Inspired by the remarkable achievements of other CebuTech campuses that have consistently produced topnotchers in various professional fields in recent years, CTU-Consolacion continues to raise the bar in teacher education and board examination preparedness.

The successful conduct of the mock board examination was also made possible through the full support of the Dean of Instruction, Dr. Rogelio C. Sala, alongside the dedicated and proactive program chairpersons: Dr. Donna Mae Tagsip for English, Ms. Grace Luna for Filipino, Mr. Ian Nino Judaya for Mathematics, and Mr. Rielouie Angtud for BEED. Their collaborative efforts in organizing, supervising, and preparing the students demonstrated the institutionโ€™s strong commitment to academic mentorship and excellence.

Significant contribution made by the Program Chairs and CEAS faculty members who crafted and developed the questionnaires used during the examination to ensure that the content reflected the standards and rigor of the actual licensure examination.

Also present during the conduct of the mock board examination were dedicated faculty members who facilitated and monitored the activity, namely: Dr. Joemar Minoza, Ms. Jovisa Baculpo, Ms. Mary Pepito, Ms. Ivy Garcia, Ms. Julie Baguio and Mr. Mark Lester Payot. On the other hand, Mr. Mark Lester Payot together with Dr. Ken dela Pena, also helped in crafting and developing the questionnaire for the Filipino program even if the latter was not around during the conduct of the mock-board. Special thanks to Miss Eucarl Moralde for preparing and printing all the test questionnaires.Their presence and support further emphasized the collective effort of the institution in nurturing future professional teachers who are academically prepared and globally competitive.

The activity not only measured the academic preparedness of the graduating students but also instilled in them discipline, determination, and confidence as future educators. Through programs such as the mock board examination, Cebu Technological Universityโ€“Consolacion Campus continues to uphold its mission of producing competent, resilient, and highly qualified professionals ready to make meaningful contributions to the field of education and to society as a whole.

FUTURE LEADERS TAKE CENTER STAGE: CTU-CONSOLACION SSG HOLDS MITING DE AVANCE

The Cebu Technological University โ€“ Consolacion Campus Supreme Student Government (SSG) officially conducted its much-anticipated Miting De Avance spearheaded by the COMELEC as an independent body, gathering aspiring student leaders, supporters, faculty members, and the student body in a vibrant demonstration of campus democracy, leadership, and student participation. The activity served as the culminating campaign event prior to the upcoming SSG Elections, providing candidates the opportunity to formally present their platforms of government, advocacies, plans, and visions for the student community.

The SSG Commission on Elections (COMELEC) spearheaded the conduct of the Miting de Avance as part of its commitment to uphold a fair, transparent, and democratic electoral process within the university. The activity served as an essential platform where aspiring student leaders were given the opportunity to formally present their platforms of government, advocacies, qualifications, and proposed programs before the student body. Through this initiative, the COMELEC ensured that students were properly informed and empowered to make wise, objective, and responsible decisions in choosing their future leaders. More importantly, the Miting de Avance promoted political awareness, transparency, accountability, and healthy democratic discourse among students, reinforcing the significance of active participation in student governance and leadership.

The Miting De Avance plays a significant role in promoting transparency, accountability, and informed decision-making among the students. Through this activity, candidates are given equal opportunity to address the student population, explain their proposed programs, answer concerns, and inspire confidence among the electorate. More than a political gathering, the event served as an avenue for healthy discourse, leadership engagement, and the strengthening of democratic values within the university. Students were encouraged to critically evaluate the qualifications, competence, integrity, and platforms of each candidate before casting their votes.

During the program, the competing parties and independent candidates enthusiastically introduced their official slates, campaign slogans, and priority projects intended to address student welfare, academic concerns, campus activities, student rights, and institutional collaboration. Candidates passionately delivered speeches highlighting their commitments toward responsive governance, inclusive leadership, student empowerment, and stronger representation within the university. The event was further energized through chants, presentations, and the overwhelming support of students from different colleges and organizations.

The activity was conducted under the supervision of the Office of the Student Affairs and Services (SAS) to ensure that the proceedings remained orderly, respectful, and aligned with the principles of fair and democratic elections. University officials reminded the student body that elections are not merely contests for positions but opportunities to choose leaders who embody service, accountability, and dedication to the welfare of the students and the institution.

As the university prepares for the official election day, the Miting De Avance stands as a testament to the vibrant culture of student leadership and participatory governance within Cebu Technological University โ€“ Consolacion Campus. The event showcased not only the passion and aspirations of the candidates but also the active involvement of students in shaping the future direction of their student government and campus community.
