Learning Beyond the Classroom: USTP Claveria Students Explore Indigenous Communities and Peace Education Through Educational Tour
As part of their learning experience under the Philippine Indigenous Communities and Peace Education (PICPE), NSTP-CWTS students from BSIT 3A, BSIT 3B, and BTLED 2A of USTP Claveria participated in an educational tour today, May 14, 2026, at the Capitol University Museum of Three Cultures and Museo de Oro.
The activity aimed to deepen the studentsโ understanding of Philippine indigenous communities, cultural diversity, history, and peace education through actual exposure to historical artifacts, indigenous collections, cultural exhibits, and preserved records found within the museums. Through guided tours and discussions, students were able to appreciate the rich heritage, traditions, and contributions of indigenous peoples in shaping the countryโs identity and social development.
The educational tour also emphasized the importance of peace education, cultural sensitivity, and respect for diversity among students. By learning about the experiences, struggles, and resilience of indigenous communities, participants were encouraged to develop greater social awareness, empathy, and appreciation for inclusive nation-building and intercultural understanding.
More than an academic activity, the tour served as an avenue for experiential learning that connected classroom discussions with real-life cultural and historical contexts. It further strengthened the NSTP-CWTS programโs commitment to promoting civic consciousness, nationalism, and meaningful engagement among students as future professionals and responsible citizens.
