Last Saturday, the AB English Language Studies (ELS) junior students who will be completing their internship outside the province of Camarines Norte were formally deployed by our SIPP Coordinator, Ms. Nikka Marie Francisco-Carmona.

For their industry immersion, the students will be assigned to ๐†๐๐ ๐“๐•๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ– ๐๐š๐ ๐š and ๐ƒ๐ข๐ ๐ข๐ญ๐š๐ฅ ๐Œ๐ข๐ง๐๐ฌ ๐๐๐Ž ๐’๐ž๐ซ๐ฏ๐ข๐œ๐ž๐ฌ ๐ˆ๐ง๐œ๐จ๐ซ๐ฉ๐จ๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐ž๐ in Naga City, Camarines Sur, which will serve as their Host Training Establishments (HTEs).

The deployment activity was also attended by BS Development Communication SIPP Coordinator, Ms. Jovelyn Cacho, together with the interns from the said program.

As part of its commitment to holistic student development, the English Language Studies (ELS) Department, in partnership with the Development Communication Department, successfully conducted the ๐๐ซ๐ž-๐ˆ๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ง๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ฉ ๐Ž๐ซ๐ข๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐’๐ž๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐š๐ซ-๐–๐จ๐ซ๐ค๐ฌ๐ก๐จ๐ฉ (๐๐„๐: ๐๐ซ๐จ๐Ÿ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐š๐ฅ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฆ, ๐„๐ญ๐ข๐ช๐ฎ๐ž๐ญ๐ญ๐ž, ๐š๐ง๐ ๐๐ž๐ญ๐ฐ๐จ๐ซ๐ค๐ข๐ง๐ ) on June 8โ€“9 via Zoom Conference.

Now on its second year, PEN continues to equip future interns with the knowledge, skills, and professional mindset necessary for meaningful workplace engagement. The initiative was pioneered by ๐’๐ˆ๐๐ ๐‚๐จ๐จ๐ซ๐๐ข๐ง๐š๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ฌ ๐Œ๐ฌ. ๐๐ข๐ค๐ค๐š ๐Œ๐š๐ซ๐ข๐ž ๐…๐ซ๐š๐ง๐œ๐ข๐ฌ๐œ๐จ-๐‚๐š๐ซ๐ฆ๐จ๐ง๐š, ๐Œ๐ฌ. ๐’๐ก๐ž๐ž๐ฅ๐š ๐’๐š๐ฅ๐ฏ๐š๐๐จ๐ซ, ๐š๐ง๐ ๐Œ๐ฌ. ๐‰๐จ๐ฏ๐ž๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ง ๐‚๐š๐œ๐ก๐จ, and was facilitated by selected AB ELS and BS DevCom students.

The two-day virtual conference featured discussions on internship processes and requirements, professional communication, workplace etiquette and conduct, responsible digital citizenship, and the legal provisions related to safe spaces and data privacy.

With the SIPP Coordinators serving as prime movers and the Host Training Establishment (HTE) representatives actively participating, PEN Year 2 became more than a preparatory seminar. It served as a valuable platform for capacity-building, mentorship, professional networking, and meaningful collaboration between students and industry partners.

As another batch of interns prepares to embark on their professional journey, PEN remains a testament to the departmentsโ€™ shared commitment to producing competent, ethical, and workplace-ready graduates.

Following the planning meeting of the ELS Faculty and shared faculty members from the Development Communication Department in May, the ELS Program Chairperson and AEM Adviser, Ms. Marianne Jalgalado, convened the outgoing set of AEM Officers on June 1.
