Congratulations to Asst. Prof. John Rover Sinag for successfully presenting their research at the 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 (𝐈𝐂𝐎𝐂𝐎 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓).

Co-authored by Genrev Gabriel Rodriquez, a full-stack developer and a CCMS Information Technology alumnus, and Prof. Ian Boots Bautista from Mapua University School of Multimedia and Digital Arts, the research was a collaboration of the MSEUF College of Computing and Multimedia Studies, Kampay Studio, and the Mapua University School of Multimedia and Digital Arts.

Held in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia, the conference adopted a hybrid setup, allowing our Envergan researchers to present remotely on October 6, 2025.

The research is expected to be published in IEEE Xplore, a Scopus-indexed digital library, in the coming months.

This work supports key UN Sustainable Development Goals by using virtual reality to protect and share culture (SDG 11), advancing innovation in digital tools for tourism (SDG 9), strengthening learning and research skills for students and faculty (SDG 4), opening new opportunities for sustainable tourism work (SDG 8), and building links with partners here and abroad (SDG 17).

Our BS Computer Science students secured a Top 10 finish out of more than 50 teams in the Byte Forward Hackathon – South Luzon leg! Their AI-powered project, Eventure, is a digital event planning platform that boosts MSME service vendors who often rely only on word-of-mouth or Facebook by giving them wider visibility and smarter booking solutions.

This achievement supports SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) as it showcases applied learning through hackathons, promotes MSME growth with accessible technology, builds innovative AI infrastructure, and strengthens collaboration with industry and government partners.
