‎On August 22, 2026, the 526th Department of Military Science and Tactics (DMST), West Visayas State University–Main Campus ROTC Unit, held its Donning of Ranks and Change of Command Ceremony, marking a new chapter of leadership, responsibility, and service for its cadet officers.
‎
‎The ceremony commenced with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, followed by an opening prayer led by 𝐒𝐠𝐭 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐚 𝐉𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐣𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞 𝐂 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐀𝐅 (𝐑𝐞𝐬). 𝐓𝐒𝐠 𝐑𝐚𝐟𝐚𝐞𝐥 𝐂 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐏𝐀𝐅 (𝐑𝐞𝐭) then delivered the welcome remarks, formally opening the ceremony and recognizing the significance of the occasion.

‎The Reading of Orders, led by 𝟏𝐋𝐓 𝐑𝐎𝐘 𝐕 𝐒𝐀𝐁𝐑𝐀𝐍 𝐏𝐀𝐅 (𝐑𝐞𝐬), 𝐂𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐥 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟓𝟐𝟔𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐌𝐒𝐓, formally announced the relief and designation of the newly promoted Cadet Officers. This was followed by the signing of the Relinquishment Order and remarks from the outgoing Corps Commander, 𝐂/𝐂𝐎𝐋 𝐋𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐨 𝐌𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐈𝐈𝐈 𝐀 𝐃𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞 𝟏𝐂𝐋, and the signing of the Assumption Order of the incoming Corps Commander, 𝐂/𝐂𝐎𝐋 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞 𝐌 𝐀𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐚 𝟏𝐂𝐋.

‎A significant moment of the ceremony was the formal turnover of the Corps Symbol, symbolizing the transition of command and the continuity of leadership within the ROTC Unit. The Corps Symbol was first handed over to the 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟓𝟐𝟔𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐌𝐒𝐓, 𝐋𝐓𝐂 𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐄 𝐏 𝐏𝐈𝐀𝐁𝐎𝐋 𝐉𝐑 𝐏𝐀𝐅, who then entrusted it to 𝐂/𝐂𝐎𝐋 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞 𝐌 𝐀𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐚 𝟏𝐂𝐋 , signifying the beginning of her tenure as Corps Commander.

‎In her remarks, 𝐂/𝐂𝐎𝐋 𝐀𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐚 expressed her commitment to lead with purpose, uphold the trust entrusted to her, and serve the WVSU–Main Campus ROTC Unit with dedication, discipline, and integrity. She emphasized that leadership is not merely a position or rank, but a responsibility to inspire, serve, and lead by example.

‎The program proceeded with the introduction of the Keynote Speaker, led by 𝐒𝐒𝐠 𝐉𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞 𝐅 𝐋𝐚𝐲𝐧𝐨 𝐏𝐀𝐅, 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐍𝐨𝐧-𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐫-𝐈𝐧-𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞 (𝐍𝐂𝐎𝐈𝐂) 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟓𝟐𝟔𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐌𝐒𝐓. The Keynote Speaker, 𝐋𝐓𝐂 𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐄 𝐏 𝐏𝐈𝐀𝐁𝐎𝐋 𝐉𝐑 𝐏𝐀𝐅, delivered his message, sharing valuable experiences and words of encouragement with the cadets. He highlighted the importance of academic excellence, discipline, leadership, accountability, and responsibility as essential foundations in the development of future leaders.

‎As a gesture of appreciation, a charcoal portrait was presented to 𝐋𝐓𝐂 𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐄 𝐏 𝐏𝐈𝐀𝐁𝐎𝐋 𝐉𝐑 𝐏𝐀𝐅 in recognition of his time, experiences, and meaningful message to the cadet officers. More than a token, the portrait served as a reminder that behind every achievement is a journey shaped by humility, perseverance, and the people who help guide us along the way.

‎The ceremony concluded with the singing of the Philippine Air Force Hymn, followed by a photo opportunity with the Guest of Honor and Speaker, cadet officers, and cadets.
‎
‎Adding greater meaning to the occasion was the presence of the parents, guardians, and loved ones of the Cadet Officers, who proudly witnessed this important milestone. Their presence reflected the unwavering support behind every accomplishment and served as a reminder that every cadet’s journey toward leadership and service is strengthened by the people who believe in them.

‎As 34 newly commissioned Cadet Officers take on greater responsibilities, the ceremony stands not only as a celebration of rank, but as a reminder of the trust, duty, discipline, and service that come with leadership.

Today, we commemorate Ninoy Aquino Day, honoring the life, sacrifice, and enduring legacy of late Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr., whose courage became a catalyst for democracy and inspired generations of Filipinos to uphold freedom, justice, and national unity.

As we remember his unwavering commitment to the Filipino people, may we continue to embody the values of integrity, responsibility, and love for country in our daily lives.

𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦 | The Cadet Officers of the 526th Department of Military Science and Tactics (DMST), West Visayas State University – Main Campus ROTC Unit through the guidance and leadership of LTC RENE P PIABOL JR PAF, Commandant, 526th DMST, successfully conducted its ROTC Orientation and 1st Training Week for Academic Year 2026–2027 on 15 August 2026 at the WVSU Grandstand and Parade Grounds and College of Dentistry Building.

The basic cadets were composed of students from West Visayas State University – Main Campus, Iloilo Doctors’ College, Asian College of Aeronautics, and St. Therese MTC Colleges- Magdalo. Throughout the training, cadets were introduced to the fundamental principles of the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC), its objectives, and the values of discipline, leadership, patriotism, and service.

Further, the activity was followed by an Orientation and Discussion from 𝗧𝗦𝗚 𝗥𝗮𝗳𝗮𝗲𝗹 𝗖 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗩 𝗣𝗔𝗙 (Ret), Graduate Military Assistant, 526th DMST. His message emphasized the importance of basic military knowledge and encouraged the cadets to pursue Advance ROTC Training with a focus on service, excellence, and the development of effective leadership skills.

The successful conduct of the First Training Week marks the beginning of another year of learning, growth, and commitment to service as future reservists and leaders of the nation.

𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦 | The Cadet Officers of the 526th Department of Military Science and Tactics (DMST) joined WESTIVAL 2026 at the PESCAR Wellness Park on 10 August 2026, with the theme “Pag-alagad. Paghiusa. Paglambo.”

Amid the various booths and student organizations welcoming freshmen from different colleges, Air Force ROTC cadet officers established an interactive booth featuring games and activities that showcased the program’s training, activities, and core values of integrity, service, and excellence. The booth also introduced students to the opportunities and benefits of joining ROTC, including leadership development, discipline, and potential career opportunities in the Philippine Air Force.

Students participated in various activities, including push-up challenges, ROTC-related trivia, and a rifle-handling photo activity. Winners of the challenges received prizes such as stickers, bookmarks, Air Force ROTC-inspired mugs, and certificates, while button pins, keychains, and belts with buckles featuring ROTC-inspired designs and the Air Force logo were also made available for purchase. Through these activities and exhibits, the ROTC booth provided freshmen with an engaging introduction to the program and encouraged prospective cadets to consider joining ROTC and developing themselves as future leaders dedicated to serving the nation.

Sa panahon ng makabagong teknolohiya, nagsisilbing katuwang ang Artificial Intelligence sa pananaliksik at pag-access ng impormasyon, habang nananatiling mahalaga ang ating sariling wika bilang tulay sa mas malawak na pag-unawa at komunikasyon.

Ngayong Buwan ng Wika, ating pahalagahan ang Wikang Filipino bilang daan tungo sa makabuluhang pananaliksik at makabagong kaalaman.
