Joni Kay M. Mendoza, a Juris Doctor student of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State Universityโ€“Mid La Union Campus (DMMMSU-MLUC), gained firsthand experience in government litigation and public legal service through the 2026 Legal Internship Program of the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) in Makati City.

Mendoza was among the 61 law students selected nationwide for the seven-week program conducted from June to July 2026. The internship required 240 hours of legal training, which provides participants with opportunities to apply classroom knowledge to actual legal processes under the guidance of government solicitors.

Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) and the Faculty Association of DMMMSU (FAD) signed a Collective Negotiation Agreement (CNA) at the New Central Administration in Raois, Bacnotan, La Union on October 7, 2026. DMMMSU President Dr. Jaime I. Manuel, Jr., and FAD President Floribeth P. Cuison led the official signing ceremony.

The signed agreement establishes a framework of shared responsibility between university management and rank-and-file faculty members. Under the CNA, DMMMSU recognizes FAD as the sole and exclusive negotiating agent for faculty employees. The agreement formalizes faculty representation across major university bodies, including the Human Resource Management Personnel Selection Board, Faculty Development Committee, Grievance Committee, and Performance Evaluation Review Committee.

The University will observe a work-from-home arrangement tomorrow, October 9, 2026 (Friday). Classes at all levels will be conducted through asynchronous modalities.

Except for the Bacnotan cluster, which will be affected by a power interruption, the offices but not limited to the following will remain open under a skeletal workforce to provide frontline services:
- Records Office
- Cashierโ€™s Office
- Office of the President
- Office of the Chancellor
- Office of the Executive Director

Personnel assigned to supervise students undergoing OJT or internship should report as necessary. Personnel handling operations that require physical presence should also report onsite.

This arrangement follows the directive of the University President to enforce DMMMSU Memorandum No. 671.

Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University congratulates its newly registered fisheries professionals who successfully passed the October 2026 Fisheries Professional Licensure Examination, based on the results released by the Professional Regulation Commission.

DMMMSU recorded 28 passers out of 35 examinees, posting an 80.00% overall passing rate, higher than the 69.02% national passing rate.

Among first-time takers, the University recorded an 88.46% passing rate, with 23 of 26 examinees successfully passing the examination.
