UCC โ SERVE conducted a week-long session on Age Level Education for ETS Ministerial Students from January 19 to 23, 2026, at the Accreditation Room, Chan Building, UCC, City of San Fernando, La Union.
The lecture aimed to equip Pastors and ministerial students from Ecumenical Theological Seminary (ETS), an established partner of Union Christian College with theological foundations, developmental understanding, and practical teaching strategies for faith formation across different life stages. Emphasizing Christian education as a lifelong process, the program highlighted the importance of age-appropriate and context-sensitive approaches in church ministry.
The sessions opened with Rev. Pyke Ducusin, who lay the theological and biblical foundations of age-level Christian education, emphasizing education as lifelong discipleship. He guided students through an accessible discussion on human development and faith formation, drawing insights from key developmental theorists and relating them to Christian teaching.
Focused sessions on Childrenโs Christian Education led by Maโam Zoilo Salvador and Maโam Jean Sacking, highlighting faith formation through story, play, ritual, and creative, age-appropriate teaching methods, as well as strong partnerships with parents and caregivers.
For Youth and Adolescent Ministry, Rev. Allen Alberca addressed the realities of identity formation, questioning, and moral development, introducing discussion-based, experiential, and socially engaged teaching strategies that resonate with young people.
Adult learning and continuing Christian formation explored by Maโam Zoilo Salvador, while Dr. Grace Hope Bautista lead sessions on Intergenerational and Family-based Education, affirming the family as a vital context for faith formation.
The training further strengthens studentsโ skills in Curriculum Design and Volunteer Teacher support through a session led by Sir Teofilo Damoco, focusing on sustainable educational ministries in the local church.
Through this initiative, UCC-SERVE Program through its implementing arm, the Master of Arts in Education and the School of Education, Arts, & Sciences, reaffirms its commitment to forming thoughtful, compassionate, and well-equipped Christian educators who can nurture faith meaningfully at every stage of life.
