March 4 is officially recognized as Marching Music Day, founded in 2017 by Drum Corps International (DCI) in North America. The date was chosen because โ€œMarch Fourthโ€ sounds like โ€œMarch Forthโ€ - a powerful call to move forward with passion, discipline, and pride.

It honors the dedication of marching bands, drum and lyre corps, color guards, and all performers who bring music to life on the streets and on the field.

Today, we celebrate the beat that unites us, the steps that strengthen us, and the music that inspires us.

The IFSU Drum and Lyre Corps (IDLC) led the first training of the IFSU ROTC Band Platoon on February 7, 2026, at IFSU Lamut Campus. The activity brought together IDLC members, ROTC band basic cadets and the ROTC band officer in a hands-on training session focused on band fundamentals and coordinated movements.

Serving as the primary trainers, IDLC members shared their expertise in marching techniques, instrument handling, and formation alignment. Through demonstrations and guided practice, the corps provided basic cadets with practical knowledge essential to developing synchronization, discipline, and confidence as members of the ROTC band.

The training was supervised by C/CPT ROSE ANN C TUMAPANG 2CL, ROTC Band Officer, who ensured the smooth flow of the activity and proper implementation of instructions. Her supervision supported the delivery of lessons while maintaining order and coordination among participants.

The session highlighted the role of the IFSU Drum and Lyre Corps in mentoring and shaping the ROTC Band Platoon. This collaboration strengthened coordination between the two groups and marked a significant step in developing the skills and unity of the ROTC band at the Lamut Campus.
