by Akari Magtaca
The University of Santo TomasโLegazpiโs Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) majors in Financial Management (FM) and Marketing Management (MM) held their first joint โBSBA Daysโ on February 10 and 11, 2026, at the Peรฑaranda Campus, carrying the theme โIgniting Excellence Through Financial and Marketing Synergy.โ
Organized by the Junior Marketing Association (JMA) and the Junior Financial and Investment Executives (JFINEX), the two-day event brought together first- to third-year FM and MM students in a series of academic, creative, and performance-based activities.
In an interview with the Aquinian Herald, Christi Evan Mar, the Executive Vice President of JMA and one of the project heads of BSBA Days, shared the purpose of the event for both programs and what it means for them.
โThe purpose of this event was to mainly collaborate and for us, Financial and Marketing [Management] students to grow together as one, even though we have different courses, different insights, [and] different fields in the business,โ said Mar.
โBut the main point was for us to create a space where both [programs] are seen, are known, and are appreciated for their expertise and for their talents,โ he added.
Participants were grouped into four teams: Aureus, Ignis, Novus, and Signia. Fourth-year students were unable to participate due to their practicum or on-the-job training (OJT).
The first day of BSBA Days opened with a seminar at the De Guzman Hall. Carmille Joy Sallena, a Certified Public Accountant and Financial Advisor, discussed โFinancial Literacy Among New Entrepreneurs and Start-up Businesses,โ while Christian Cezar Sanorjo, owner of Cesarโs Cafรฉ, spoke on โDriving Business Growth Through Financially-Aligned Marketing Strategies.โ
In the afternoon, students showcased their knowledge and creativity through a simultaneous quiz bee and poster-making contest held at the Erquiaga Hall. The quiz bee covered topics from courses taken by both FM and MM students. Team Novus emerged as the champion, followed by Teams Signia, Ignis, and Aureus.
Meanwhile, participants in the poster-making contest created outputs aligned with the eventโs theme. Team Signia secured first place, followed by Teams Novus, Ignis, and Aureus.
The second day shifted the focus from academics to performance and celebration. A pageant and cheer presentations from each team highlighted the creativity and teamwork of the participants.
Elthon Callos and Denise Nicole Reyes, both from Team Aureus, were crowned Mr. and Ms. BSBA 2026. In the special awards, Team Novus secured Best Production Number and Best Ramp in both male and female categories, while Novus (male) and Ignis (female) won Best Uniform Attire and Best Corporate Attire.
Team Novus also won Best Cheer Presentation, followed by Teams Ignis and Aureus, while Team Signia had no entry.
The event concluded with an awarding ceremony recognizing outstanding teams and individuals for their performances across the two-day celebration.
The event was inspired by the TM and HM Days of the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management and Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management programs. โNaisip ko siya noong pagkatapos ng election [last year]โnakausap ko si Evan, โWhat if, kung mayroong TM and HM Days, meron din ng BSBA Days?โโ Raymund Christopher Imperial, Internal Vice President of JFINEX and co-project head of the event, shared.
Despite the pending overall results, BSBA Days marked the first collaborative celebration between FM and MM students. As of writing, the overall team placements have yet to be announced because the audio-visual presentations from each team, which count toward the final evaluation, were not submitted on the second day.
