A long-standing UPLB tradition, Loyalty Day brings together generations of alums & members of the UPLB community to reconnect with old friends, revisit familiar places, and celebrate fond memories of their alma mater. It also commemorates the volunteerism and “UPLB Spirit” demonstrated by students and faculty members of the then UP College of Agriculture who enlisted for the Philippine National Guard on October 10, 1918.

How can science journalism and science communication help address escalating climate risks, strengthen public trust in science, and guide communicative action?

The Department of Development Journalism (DDJ) and the Department of Science Communication (DSC) of the College of Development Communication (CDC), UP Los Baños, cordially invite you to the Juan F. Jamias Annual Lecture on Science Journalism and Science Communication.

Named in honor of the late Prof. Juan F. Jamias—a pioneering scholar and institution builder who laid the foundations for science journalism and science communication in the Philippines—this annual lecture serves as a flagship platform for scholars, practitioners, educators, and students to engage in dialogue on cutting-edge knowledge and emerging issues at the intersection of science, media, and society.

For this milestone event, we are honored to feature Dr. Rodel Lasco, a renowned climate scientist and the Director of the Oscar M. Lopez Center (OMLC), who will deliver a keynote address examining critical perspectives on climate resilience, environmental communication, and translating scientific research into actionable knowledge for various publics.

Join us on 12 October, 1:30 P.M., at Lecture Rooms 1 and 2, NCQ Hall, UPLB
