Marking a strong start to the academic year, the Institute of Professional and Graduate Studies (IPGS) of the Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) successfully held its Orientation and Assembly at the SPAMAST Founder's Hall on August 22, 2026.
Gathering graduate students from diverse disciplines, the morning-long event served as a comprehensive introduction to academic life, institutional policies, and student leadership within the institute.
The assembly welcomed students enrolled across the institute's robust roster of graduate programs, which includes: Master of Arts in Education (MAEd) majors in Educational Management, Mathematics Teaching and Science Teaching, Master in Business Administration (MBA) major in Agribusiness, Master of Science in Fisheries (MSF) major in Aquaculture, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Educational Management, MSMBD Master of Science in Marine Biodiversity, and Master of Arts in Education major in Language Teaching.
Setting the tone for the event, Dr. Fe T. Canoy, Director for Instruction, introduced the esteemed pool of IPGS faculty and staff members. Following this, IPGS Dean Dr. Karen E. Cabalquinto led the orientation on essential school policies and the academic calendar, ensuring students are well-equipped for the rigorous journey ahead.
A highlight of the assembly was the turnover and strengthening of student governance. Fritz Medard V. Arevalo, President of the Society of Graduate School Students (SGSS), presented the organization's accomplishments, inspiring new students to active involvement.
Guided by Dr. Carlito B. Balandra, Program Head for MAEd in Math, the assembly proceeded with the election of the new set of SGSS officers. The momentous occasion culminated in the official oath-taking ceremony administered by Dr. Marlyn B. Llameg, Vice President for Academic Affairs.
To inject energy and camaraderie into the gathering, engaging and fun-filled activities were facilitated by program host Dr. Mayjury P. Garcia. The successful event officially drew to a close with closing remarks delivered by Dr. Emmanuel C. Aznar, MBA Program Head.
