Small bytes, BIG beginnings! πŸ’Ύ

Before storage could fit in your pocket, it needed a forklift! This week’s takes us back to 1956 with the IBM 305 RAMACβ€”a massive machine whose storage held just 5 MB of data. Talk about carrying the weight of technology! πŸ—οΈ

From tons of hardware to pocket-sized possibilities, IT has come a long way! πŸš€

πŸ’» Think you can prove you’re human? πŸ€–

Before you click those traffic lights, buses, or crosswalks, here’s something you might not know: CAPTCHA is actually an acronym!

Developed at Carnegie Mellon University in 2000, CAPTCHA stands for β€œCompletely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart.” It serves as a quick reverse Turing test designed to distinguish real users from automated bots.

So the next time a website asks you to prove you’re not a robot, rememberβ€”there’s more behind those little boxes than meets the eye. 🧩

Did you know that the original name for Wi-Fi was actually "IEEE 802.11b Direct Sequence"? πŸ“Ά

When wireless networking technology emerged in the late 1990s, its official technical title was far too complex for everyday users. In 1999, the Wireless Ethernet Compatibility Alliance brought in branding firm Interbrand to create a friendlier name. Taking inspiration from the audio term "hi-fi" (high fidelity), they coined "Wi-Fi" and designed its iconic black-and-white yin-yang logo.

From a mouthful of technical jargon to a household name that connects the globe, smart branding changed how we access the digital world. πŸ“‘βœ¨

Did you know that the world’s first registered .com domain dates all the way back to 1985? 🌐

On March 15, 1985, Symbolics.com made internet history as the first-ever registered .com domain. More than four decades later, the domain remains activeβ€”standing as a digital time capsule from the early days of the internet.

From a single domain to hundreds of millions today, it all started with one byte-sized milestone. πŸ–₯️✨
