CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS!
The Department of Arts and Communication is accepting submissions for PUWEDE: A Literary Anthology about and for People with Disability.
The Filipino word “puwede” means “possible” or “it can be done.” This anthology seeks to reclaim and transform the narrative often associated with the word “hindi puwede” (“cannot”), which has long been tied to the barriers- that persons with disabilities (PWDs) face.
Too often, PWDs are marginalized or defined solely by their disabilities, rather than by their talents, aspirations, and contributions.
Through this project, the Department of Arts and Communication (DAC) at the University of the Philippines Manila aims to create a platform where PWDs and allies can share stories, poems, and essays that challenge stereotypes, highlight resilience, and affirm the dignity, creativity, and leadership of PWDs.
