As our interns draw closer to the moment they've been waiting for, we look back on the Baccalaureate Mass held last May 29, a meaningful celebration of faith, gratitude, and the journey that brought them to this point. Like lanterns finally reaching the sky, each step has brought them closer to seeing the light of the dreams they have worked so hard to achieve. 🏮

As they prepare to embark on new adventures beyond the university, we celebrate the memories, challenges, and milestones that illuminated the path. Here's to the light that guided them here and the brighter horizons that await them.

Last May 22, 2026, the Speech-Language Pathology Society held the 2026 SLP Closing General Assembly at the TARC Auditorium with the theme “Into the Speechie-verse: The SLP Closing General Assembly.” The event served as the culminating activity of the academic year, bringing together the Speech-Language Pathology student community to celebrate the achievements, challenges, and experiences that shaped the year. Inspired by the concept of intersecting realities, the assembly highlighted the diverse journeys of Speechies while emphasizing the shared bonds that unite them as one community.

The program featured a variety of interactive activities and entertainment, including games, performances, a photobooth, and an on-site merchandise booth, fostering camaraderie and engagement among students from all year levels. A year-end report delivered by the outgoing SLP Society Executive Board provided an opportunity to reflect on the organization's accomplishments and milestones throughout the academic year. More than a closing celebration, the event served as a meaningful gathering that recognized the collective growth, resilience, and contributions of the Speechie community. Through this annual tradition, the department reaffirmed its commitment to cultivating a supportive environment that inspires connection, excellence, and a lasting sense of belonging among future speech-language pathologists.

Last May 9, 2026, the Speech-Language Pathology Society organized "Speak Your Way Forward: Navigating the Realities of SLP Practice," a seminar aimed at preparing graduating Speech-Language Pathology students for the transition from academic life to professional practice. As interns approach the completion of their undergraduate training, the event served as a platform for discussing important aspects of post-graduation life, including licensure requirements, employment opportunities, job application strategies, and preparation for board examinations. In addition to career readiness, the seminar highlighted the importance of personal growth and life skills that support successful adjustment to the demands of professional practice.

The program also introduced participants to a range of postgraduate opportunities within the field. Discussions covered potential specialization areas and opportunities for further academic advancement through graduate studies, such as those offered by the University of Santo Tomas. Through this initiative, the department sought to provide future speech-language pathologists with the guidance, knowledge, and confidence needed to make informed decisions as they begin the next stage of their professional and personal development.

From last year’s successful run, “Speech Camp 2026: The Great Communication Quest!” returned once again and was held by the UST CRS Speech-Language Pathology Society on May 5, 2026, together with our lovely speaker, Ma'am Veronica S. Yu-Quibael, RSLP, who shared valuable insights on the role of Speech-Language Pathologists in supporting individuals with Cleft Lip and Palate and their communication skills in their everyday lives.

Through engaging discussions and activities during the event, participants gained a deeper understanding of the challenges individuals with Cleft Lip and Palate face, as well as the importance of early intervention, therapy, and family support in their communication journey.

The program also served as an opportunity to inspire future healthcare professionals and advocates to continue promoting awareness, inclusivity, and compassionate care for individuals with communication needs. By fostering learning and collaboration, Speech Camp 2026 became a meaningful space for empowerment, growth, and service to the community.

Noong May 3, 2026, ang UST CRS Speech-Language Pathology ay nagkaroon ng isang espesyal na programang nangangalang 'RehaBinangonan 2026 - Kapit-BiSiG: Binangonan Siyasatin at Gabayan' upang makapagbigay ng pananaw at impormasyon sa ating mga komunidad sa Pagasa, Binangonan, Rizal tungkol sa pagpapalaganap ng inklusibong rehabilitasyon para sa ating mga mamamayan.

Ang programang ito ay may layuning makatulong sa mga taong may mga kamag-anak at pamilyang may karamdaman na nakakaapekto sa kanilang pagsasalita at pakikipag-usap. Kasama rin sa ating programa ang mga barangay health workers at CBR workers upang mapalawak ang kanilang kaalaman at kakayahan sa pagbibigay ng serbisyong pangkomunidad na higit na makakatulong sa rehabilitasyon ng komunidad.

Sa pamamagitan ng mga talakayan, workshop, at pagbabahagi ng karanasan, naging daan ang programa upang mas mapalalim ang pag-unawa ng komunidad sa kahalagahan ng maagang interbensyon, tamang suporta, at inklusibong pangangalaga para sa mga taong may pangangailangang pangkomunikasyon. Patuloy na nagsisilbing inspirasyon ang mga ganitong inisyatibo sa pagtataguyod ng isang komunidad na may malasakit, pagkakaisa, at pantay na oportunidad para sa lahat.
