Susuriin ng panel na ito ang tradisyon ng subli sa Barangay Pook, Agoncillo, Batangas, batay sa ginawang fieldwork ng klaseng MuL 192 (Field Methods) noong Mayo 2024. Gamit ang "4 Components of a Music Culture" ni Jeff Todd Titon bilang balangkas, sinuri ng pananaliksik ang subli bilang isang penomenon na may iba’t-ibang anyo o multifaceted na sumasaklaw sa ritwal, panata, laro, pakikipagkapwa-tao, at pagpapahayag ng teksto.

Ilalahad ng panel ang kanilang natuklasan sa organisasyong panlipunan (Erika Honrade), sistema ng paniniwala (Jose Ignacio Mirabueno), repertoryo at sistema ng pag-aaral ng sayaw at tugtugin (Nikki Zen Obmasca), at kulturang materyal (Dominic Joseph Trinidad), batay sa mga naobserbahan sa isang selebrasyon ng ika-pitong taong kaarawan, at sa Grand La Paz, ang malaking taunang pagtitipon ng mga manunubli sa Agoncillo. Magbibigay ang presentasyon ng masaganang datos mula sa mga litrato, bidyo, panayam sa mga tagasanay, at pagsusuri ng teksto ng mga kanta at panalangin. Tatalakayin ang ugnayan ng pananampalataya, dinamika ng lipunan, artistikong pagpapahayag, at mga bagay at kagamitan sa pagbubuo at pagpapanatili ng buhay na tradisyong ito.

In our upcoming MusiKolokya, we journey into a process of formulating a new curriculum for 'jazz studies,' a much called for development in the UP College of Music's course offerings to answer a need of widening academic inquiry into this unique field of creative performance. All are welcome to this lecture-demo led by one of the country's most prolific jazz musician.

Our second semestral offering of MusiKolokya features two undergrad research papers, one on protest music, while another on music for film. Despite the seeming disconnection of each topic to the other, an underlying convergence might be alluded to, given that both are seen within the milieu of Philippine society. All are invited.

Throughout the years since its inception, the MusiKolokya has become a significant venue for scholars, students, practitioners, and enthusiasts in the UP College of Music community to gather and listen to talks pertaining to music and musical practice, and encourage the exchange of ideas in lively discussion.
Beginning this year, the UP College of Music Coordinator for Research and Creative Work would like to revive this series with several presentations every semester to encourage the exchange of ideas and perspectives and enliven the musical environment in the college.
As an initial offering, two distinguished Doctoral Students will present papers that challenge schemas and notions of musical historiography and creation. All are invited.
