The UP Law Center’s Paralegal Training Program (PTP) formally concluded its 33rd Foundation
Certificate Course (PTP 33) with a closing ceremony on August 23, 2025, at the Malcolm
Theater, UP College of Law. A total of 197 trainees were awarded certificates after completing
twelve weeks of rigorous training on legal fundamentals, paralegal skills, and practical
applications.
In her Welcoming Address, Atty. Elizabeth R. Pulumbarit, Chair of the PTP Committee,
reminded the graduates that the UP values of dangal, husay, at serbisyo must serve as their
compass in the paralegal profession. This call to service was echoed by Supreme Court Associate Justice Raul B. Villanueva, Guest of Honor and Speaker, who highlighted the nobility of their role as frontliners in advancing access to justice: “In serving the law, you serve justice, and in serving justice, you serve the nation.”
Speaking on behalf of the graduates, Mr. Steve F. Dailisan urged his peers to go beyond
knowledge of the law and to stand as partners of the justice system in advocating what is right
and just. In his Closing Message, Atty. Marwil N. Llasos further challenged Batch 33 to resist
complacency, reject shortcuts, and let the law truly serve the people through integrity and
commitment.
The event also featured recognition awards, performances by the graduates, and the singing of
UP Naming Mahal, which formally sent off Batch 33. While their training has ended, their
responsibility to uphold justice and service has only just begun.
